Dillion Scott || Painting PicturesJack, as I have found out is an incredibly smart boy despite what he has lived through and the consequences that it had on him physically, mentally and emotionally. He has been badly abused all his life, the only two people to show him proper affection would be his parents, which meant he knew how to trust someone and that people are capable of kindness.
The boy has a photographic memory, which I figured out quite quickly as he could describe visual memories in great detail. With a little bit of encouragement Jack started to open up and paint a small picture into what life was for him, it was absolutely heartbreaking. Ryker gave them the bare minimum to survive, anything above that was a luxury and came with a painful cost. Alice and Geoffrey taught Jack everything they knew in terms of education along with a few books that Ryker so kindly gave to them. The biggest luxury was the radio that they were allowed to have, which was the only thing connecting them to the outside and their form of entertainment.
"Do you remember anything of your trip? When coming here?" I asked softly as I brushed through his matted curls, trying to be as gentle as I can. Jack was very soft spoken, his voice barely coming past a whisper at all times.
Over the next few hours I managed to figure out the general location of where Ryker's hide out is. It became painfully obvious that Ryker brought Jack here with the intention of the boy dying, cause Ryker seemed to of made little effort to conceal his path from Jack. I think Ryker underestimated how switched on Jack is in general.
It was just past lunch time that I became thankful for Elias becoming loud and slightly violent to inanimate objects when he is angry or upset cause I could hear him coming from a mile away. I ushered Jack into the bedroom, placing him gently on the bed. "You're safe Jack. I won't let anyone hurt you, you have my word." I said softly my heart twisting at the trembling boy. I walked out of the apartment closing and locking the door behind me, not that it would do much in keeping Elias out.
Elias greeted me with a low growl and a glare I'm starting to think was made just for me when I piss him off. Keenan was by his side giving me a apologetic look with a few guards trailing them, which wasn't going to be a fun fight if this goes south. "I'm not letting you near the boy with that attitude" I stated with a scoff, raising a unfazed brow. Unsurprising Elias wasn't impressed, though I did get a flash of a smirk from Keenan.
"Move" Elias demanded, his voice low as he used his alpha voice. The alpha voice was a cool little bonus you get with the title, for wolves in the pack or below the alpha it was incredibly difficult to disobey a Alpha command. Unfortunately for him, I am not apart of his pack, I too have alpha blood in me and technically I'm at the same standing as him so it did very little, an eye twitch at most.
"No?" I said making it out as a question, a smirk ripping across my face knowing the defiance hit a few nerves. "I would suggest you back the fuck up and calm the fuck down before Ryker is the least of your concerns" I threatened lightly. "I did not save this kid from getting shredded; stay up all night watching over him; spend all morning building his trust for you to fuck it all up." I grumbled crossing my arms over my chest like a stubborn child.
Elias was fuming, a vein bulged slightly in his neck along with a few in his arms, his hands balled into knuckle white fists. I could almost see tiny puffs of smoke coming out of his ears. "Elias please, its only a kid, a pup. He's harmless. Don't do something you'll regret." Keenan pleaded softly side stepping him to stand between us. Elias growled lowly his arm shooting up and grabbing Keenan, pushing him into the wall harshly as two guards stepped forward and grabbed me harshly, a guard also grabbed Keenan from Elias's grip with slight hesitation as he pushed past me.
"Your parents aren't dead" I rushed out in a slight panic, halting Elias in his tracks as he turned to me slowly. My heart was in my stomach as I rather have this conversation in privet and reveal it in a more sensitive way. "Alice and Geoffrey, they are still alive." I breathed out, Elias stared at me with an unreadable expression, his darkened green eyes burning holes. "His name is Jack. Jack Sallow, he's your younger brother." I stated softly.
"I saw him Elias. His wolf is a perfect mixture of you and Ryker, chest patch and all. Doc took bloods, he will be able to confirm" Keenan spoke up, still pinned against the wall though the guard wasn't really putting much force into keeping him there. "This is some fucked up shit that Ryker would do. Bring Jack here knowing you'd kill blindly anything that is associated with him" Keenan said pushing away the guard gently as he stepped towards Elias who was frozen, I'm sure his brain was going a thousand miles an hour trying to process.
The grip on me loosened as the information would of shocked the guards as well. I easily shook them off me, Keenan holding up his hand to stop them from grabbing me again. I walked carefully towards Elias, his eyes followed me as I got closer, flinching as if I burnt him when I grabbed his hand. Digging my fingers into his clenched fists, gently forcing his fist open. "Ryker has your parents locked up somewhere and with Jacks help, if you give me till morning I should have a location. Or at least a confident guess" I said, I was already seventy percent there and with a little extra time and a bit of help from my brothers I'm almost certain I can figure it out.
Elias stared at me for a moment, the emotionless mark was cracking as his green eyes became watery. Before a tear could fall Elias snatched his hand away from me and stormed off. I let out a breath, feeling relief flood my system. Keenan stepped beside me, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder.
"Come with me" I said softly, Keenan followed as I walked in to the apartment, his attention going on the mess off papers that were on the coffee table. Mostly my notes from Jack's story and bad map drawings.
"Jack" I called out softly as I walked into the bedroom where I had left him, though he wasn't on the bed. "Jack, could you come out please?" I asked softly glancing around the room, Jack shuffled from under the bed, trembling as he stood. I smiled softly at him, opening my arms which he quickly walked into. "Its okay pup. I have a friend who'd like to meet you" I said softly crouching down in front of him. "You think you could say hello? He want's to help find your parents" I said softly, he nodded hesitantly.
I walked out slowly, Jack held my hand tightly as he shuffled behind me peering out from behind my legs. Keenan looked up, from his seat on the couch his face morphing into a sympathetic one. "Hi Jack, I'm Keenan" He greeted softly.
Jack stiffened a small gasp leaving his lips, My hand tightened slightly as he tried to bolt back into the bedroom. I crouched down pulling the slightly hysterical Jack into my arms, confused on his reaction. "Jack, Calm yourself. You are safe, I won't let anyone hurt you remember" I cooed softly, after a few moments of weakly fighting my embrace he calm down. "Have you heard of Keenan before?" I asked softly. Jack nodded leaning back slightly to wipe away the tears that fell on his cheeks.
It took a while before Jack talked or came anywhere near where Keenan was seated, but once he built up enough trust that Keenan was in fact not a threat he came and sat by me. I smiled handing him the elephant teddy, watching study it as if he never saw one before which unfortunately is a real possibility.
"He is the alpha" Jack stuttered out, I looked at him with a raised an eyebrow, Jack nodded his head towards Keenan. "Ryker said Dad killed his parents, that the fire was his revenge." Jack whispered out.
"Never knew my father, left before I was born and my mum died from cancer when I was young. was in foster care most of my childhood. I went to school with Elias, I didn't know I was a wolf till I started to shift in school. Elias grabbed me and rushed me out of class, all I remember is waking up in the pack house and Alice explaining to me that I was a werewolf. Got adopted into the pack, never looked back." Keenan said leaning back on the couch an unreadable look coming over his face. "Though I was only new to the life style and there were so many other wolves more worthy, he appointed me as beta."
