Dillion Scott || Fearless Curiosity
The difference between human and wolf life are worlds apart. I knew there were big differences in how we do things, It just never occurred to me how crazy wolf life seems until I'm explaining it to humans. I've killed multiple people in battles and fights, which for me is just apart of life and survival but it isn't a normal thing for the regular human, me along with almost every other wolf out there would be in jail for life if we adhered to the human justice system.
I explained the situation briefly on how I ended up here, not wanting to bore them with to many details. Daniel and Julie thankfully understood for the most part and offered up their spare bedroom for the night or until I can reach my family. I knew there would be wolf packs around here but I'm unsure of where exactly and who it was. I also didn't feel like getting into any more trouble by trespassing on their land in hope they believed my story. "What happened with your leg?" I asked curiously.
"Rodeo accident a few years ago, crushed my knee. Always gives me grief in the winter" he explained, as I turned the conversation on them, learning a bit on their lives and who they are as people. As the morning dragged on Julie found some clothes that fit me a bit better, which was appreciated. The snowstorm did some damage to a few power lines, along with the roads not being safe to drive into town yet so there wasn't really anything I could do in contacting home.
Not wanting to be a burden, I offered to help out Daniel in the field, which he agreed with after a bit of convincing. I didn't have anything else to pay them back for their hospitality and kindness right now. A bit of yard work is the least I could do. As we walked back to the shed, to get a few tools and the supplies we needed to fix a few fences. Daniel began to paint a picture of what their situation was at the moment.
The rodeo accident a few years ago really stuffed them up, which Daniel needing multiple surgeries in the city for his knee, which meant he couldn't work, go into competitions or help out with the farm. Julie works part time at the school as a receptionist which just gets them by with bills. Their farm was breeding and training horses, along with a bit of cattle, but they had to sell most of their stock to pay of medical bills. From then on it's been a uphill struggle, the upkeep of the farm slipped with Daniels ongoing knee problems.
My attention turned to a small, red, wooden horse carriage of sorts, it a had a seat at the front with a small tray at the back, it looked as if could fit a pony or a donkey. "Why don't we use this?" I asked tapping the wooden framing, it seems a lot easier than making multiple trips up and down.
"Got nothing to pull it. Kara's little mare Jojo, who I would usually use to help me out, is lame in her front leg" Daniel explained face contorting into discomfort as he bent down to grab a dropped item.
"I could pull it" I stated, glancing down at the detachable leather straps that would usually fit around a horse. "I'd say with a bit of creative thinking we could get it fit my wolf form or something that would allow me to pull it." I said with a shrug, dusting off some dirt off the seat. With a little bit more persuasion and reassurance that it won't hurt me, I got Daniel to agree with my idea. I pulled the carriage of sorts out of the shed easily enough in human form so it will be easier in wolf form. I helped out putting the gear in the small tray portion, before we got to figuring out how I'm going to pull it.
After we figured most of it out I shifted back into my wolf with a few aches and pains but nothing too painful. Daniel strapped me in as Kara came bolting out of the house, giggling as she ran up to me, wrapping her arms around my neck, her face disappearing into my fur. I chuckled internally, lifting my head up lifting her from the ground "You're the prettiest wolf ever!" she exclaimed stepping back. Julie was slightly hesitant with approaching me, which is understandable. Contrary to Kara's fearless actions, werewolves are quite intimidating, we weren't built to be cute. Julie managed to detach Kara from me and drag her back inside, making me laugh which came out as a snort.
The day went relatively quickly working out in the field, I switched regularly between my human and wolf form, depending on the job. We have managed to create our own little language so we would communicate better while I'm in wolf form.
The minute I stepped foot in the door, Kara was attached to my hip firing questions as her curiosity about werewolves seemed to be never ending, not that I minded. Because I grew up in the world of werewolves and the supernatural, to have someone be so amazed and interested in what I consider normal is a nice change. Nice little ego boost, if I do say so myself.
Once dinner had been served and with a bit of persuasion and a promise that I would be here in the morning, Julie got Kara into bed. A silence fell in the which allowed my mind to wonder. Caleb and myself have been friends for years, along with our packs so why he would pull such a stunt confuses me, also why act now? he had years to confide his apparent feeling towards me and even then why would you do it in such a fashion. In what world would kidnapping me and putting me in a cage be the answer.
Caleb cant have feeling towards me, he might of before hand but those intimate feelings would of faded when he met his mate. I have a feeling that this whole kidnapping situation was all Caleb, cause the Longmires wouldn't risk it, we are on good terms pack wise so such an act would be counter productive. The whole thing would be better planned and there would be a lot more people involved if this was organized by the Longmires. Hopefully tensions aren't to high back at the pack, even though I am missing. Though I'm doubtful that they would find me out here, as id assume they wouldn't pin this kidnapping on Caleb straight away.
Tomorrow Daniel offered to drive to the neighbors in the chance that they had any working phones I could use. Though it seems like this storm did some widespread damage so chances are slim. If anything I will just have to go to the town and see what I can do, from what Daniel tells me its quite small and everyone knows each other so it should be somewhat easy to find someone to help me out.
The next morning Daniel delivered on his promise, taking me out to a few of their neighbors to see if they had any working phones, unfortunately they seemed to be all in the same boat. though we found out that power was scheduled to come back on by Monday which was still a few days away.
The owner of a small gift store agreed to help me out, letting me use their laptop to email my family. I typed out a small explanation on what happened and that i was safe, along with the address of the farm. Hopefully Nicholas knows a pack near by that can help me out with getting home. I know it might take a few days for anyone to see the message as checking emails isn't exactly on the priority list when it comes to pack emergencies but its the only way at the moment.
"Dillion!" Kara's voice yelled out as ran up to the car, I chuckled grabbing her gently around the waist, picking her up. "Look! Look! me and mummy made you one, a wolf bag!" Kara exclaimed holding up the hand made bag that was decorated with a few drawings.
I grinned taking the bag, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "Looks wonderful darling, thank you!" I said walking up to the house, greeting Julia as I stepped through the door, thanking her as well. we talked briefly about the happening of the morning, while we had lunch. "Kara, you know how wolves have packs?" I asked with a smile, she nodded. "well, to get into a pack, you either need to be in love with a wolf or you need alpha permission to get in" I explained vaguely, grabbing the small box from my back pocket.
"And since I'm of Alpha blood, I think its about time that a special human joins the pack" I said watching Kara's eyes widen comically. "So what do you say? You want to be in my pack?" i asked opening the box where a necklace laid, with a small wolf charm, that I had bought in the gift shop. I will pay Daniel back when I have money for the necklace, I couldn't resist when I saw it. Kara nodded enthusiastically, a wide grin taking over her face. I chuckled softly carefully placing the necklace around her neck and somehow managing to connect the small ends together.
"Welcome to the pack Kara"
