Dillion Scott || Challenging Authority

In the slow days that followed, my leg healed up so I'm once again fully healed, although there is still a bit of scaring on my wrists still from the cuffs. I'm hoping that I can get through the rest of the time here incident free, though with my track record the past few months, my chances are looking slim.

To aid my goal of not getting my self into unwanted trouble, the guard patrols have been notified that I am in fact a guest. Personally I thought it was unnecessary but I'v had multiple apologies from the guards that were involved in my capture. All of which (including Ben) have kept their jobs, thankfully.

Through my new found connections with a few of the guards, I've learnt a bit more about how Elias is like as an alpha and the fact he has a fraternal twin brother. Ryker is his name and from what I gather they aren't exactly friendly with each other. I didn't feel right prying on Elias's personal life through other people so I pushed my curiosity down for another day.

I had found a way to spend time with Elias in a way that unfortunately for him, he can't run from. Keenan subtly dropped a few nuggets of information that mainly consisted of the location of Elias's office. I'm sure to Elias's great annoyance, I've been spending the mornings and some evenings with him. With a book in hand, I make my self comfortable on the leather couch, which is where I stay for a few hours casually having one sided conversation with him. Since he can't avoid me in those times, he has reverted to the very mature adult thing to do and give me the silent treatment.

Word that I'm training to becoming a tracker got out. Gerard, who is the boss man when it comes to training and defence, offered for me to join their training program while I'm here. I accepted since there wasn't really much else to do. The sallow pack don't have compulsory combat and defence pack training, pups learn through school self defence but other that it's purely their choice in if they want to continue after school.

It's a relaxed standpoint that many packs have and I can sort of understand it but I also disagree with it. Though women are not expected to fight in the case of a battle but they are giving the option if they choose to do so. The compulsory pack training also brings the pack together and is something that boosts moral and strengthens bonds between members.

Training with the Sallow pack is also different cause they obviously have different drills and ways of doing things so it took a day or two before I got into the same rhythm. Also their lingo is slightly different then back home so once I figured those things it was smooth sailing.

Well until it wasn't.

Training days last ten hours (7am to 5pm) which isn't unusual, back home it's around the amount of hours but ours are split in to shifts. The last few hours of the day is usually dedicated to combat training.

Their training is somewhat similar in the fact they have their guards learn all aspects of combat and defences, which is the first few years before they can sort of choose in what they want to specialize in. At home the mixed training of different skills are continued through out, the only time training courses are more specialized is tracking and medical. Which is why my fighting skill is a lot higher then my tracking skills. I've been fighting a lot longer then I've been tracking.

It was the getting down to my last few days at the sallow pack until I go back for my brother's coronation and probably not see this place for a few weeks or until my wolf gets depressed. It was the last hour of training and we were shifted in our wolves for some training drills. I was partnered with a skilled, brown wolf called Joel, who somehow knows what I'm about to do two seconds before I do. My attack was once again foiled by his defence, which left me ass up and a mouth of dirt.

The drills we were suppose to be doing faded into white background noise for my wolf, Joel recognized that this was now a challenge for me, which he accepted by lowering chest to the floor while keeping his backside in the air, tail wagging lazily in the air for a few seconds before standing once again. My competitive side kick into gear, as I began to circle him, Joel coping my lead.

Joel switched from his usual defensive fight to being the aggressor, pushing off his front paws and hooking them around the waist of my wolf, almost like a lion would catching his prey. His jaw lightly biting a bit of scruff between my shoulder blades, enough for me to feel the pressure of his teeth but not enough to break skin.

I swung around nipping  part of his paw before dropping my weight to one side as if I was going to roll, which was successful in getting him to release, his body standing over mine. Before he could clamp his jaws on my exposed neck, which would be game over. I pushed my back paws just under his rib-cage, which got him off me and allowed me to stand once more.

The fight was pretty even, neither of us could give the wining move, it became a rhythm of circling, attack, defend and repeat. At this point I really should of learnt to expect the unexpected, but I guess it was a lesson I still had to fully comprehend.

I was aware that everyone in the training camp were currently watching us at the moment. It wasn't unusual for two wolves to get into a playful fight in training, it comes part and parcel with male wolves and inflated egos. The last few days of training, Elias never visited or came round not that I expected him to since he's set on keeping a distance.  With that my mind was clear of anything and everything that wasn't closely related with trying to win this mini battle.

I had given up on analysing my moves and just let my wolf instinct take over. I've been training in combat for years so it's more or less muscle memory at this point. In a fast fluster of moves, Joel once again had the upper hand, his body pinning me to the ground, but he learnt from previous times and made sure to angle his body so I couldn't push him off.

A growl ripped through the air that didn't come from either of us, my name was shouted from somewhere but neither myself or Joel had time to figure out the situation before a familiar Black wolf shoved Joel off me.  Joel let out a yelp, which I couldn't place if it was out of surprise or pain. Shaking off the confusion on what is currently happening, I jumped up from my laying position on the ground.

I barked loudly, somehow managing to get a growl mixed in as I rammed Elias's wolf with my shoulder which had him take a tumble. I stepped over a now bloodied Joel, snapping my jaw and growling lowly at Elias, who got himself off the ground.  What the hell was he thinking? This is his own pack member, one who literally did nothing wrong. In what reality dose an alpha attack an innocent pack member for no apparent reason?

Elias's seemed to snap out of what ever possessed him to attack Joel, though the pent up anger hasn't died down yet. Anger heated the blood in my veins when he shot off, letting out another growl I set off after him, managing to catch him before he reached the pack house.

That's not how things work, at least not if I have anything to do with it. Alpha title be damned, he can't attack an innocent pack member then run off into the pack house to have a temper tantrum, expecting everyone else to clean up behind him. No, he did it before and I'm not having it again. Our wolves rolled on to the rough, hard surface of the road which hurt more then I care to admit.

Mind-link between us would be so fucking useful at this point, so I could scream at him, but unfortunately we haven't consummated our bond nor am I apart of this pack so mind-link was off the cards. Being mates I knew I had a safety net with how far I push this, anyone else they probably would be in shreds if they attacked Elias, even if their intent was good.

I blocked every attempt he tried to getting inside, I knew that we had the attention of every wolf that was nearby, cause from an their point of view I'm challenging their alpha, which is never good news. I growled loudly nipping his skin to get the message through that he wasn't going inside

Thankfully he figured it out, turning around and making a run for it towards the woods, pack members that had gathered around to see the commotion moved out the way quickly. Keenan stepped in quickly when guards stepped forward to grab me. "Leave him" Keenan said, glancing at me with a small knowing smirk. I'm unsure when but Keenan somehow managed to get some joggers, which he stuffed in my shifter bag before gesturing for me to go through. I gave him a nod in thanks, setting off to find my mate.
