Dillion Scott || White Patch

When I arrived, it seemed we were the first responders as there were more rouges then guards and the metal shutters were still coming down, covering the windows and doors so no one could get in to the pack house. Everyone was in wolf form, Elias growling lowly at the unwelcomed visitors. I spotted a dark brown coloured wolf growling beside him which I assumed was Keenan.

There was a group of around thirty rouges, plus their leader who I assumed was the larger dark grey wolf who was baring its teeth at Elias, from the matching white patch on his chest I'm going to guess that the grey wolf was Ryker.  For a supposedly dangerous wolf he didn't seem very tactical bringing only a few rouges, unless he has more hiding elsewhere.

I was standing down wind of Elias so he as yet to notice my presence which is probably a good thing. Elias towered over his brother, power and dominance rolled off him in waves. Keenan was around the same size as me, which for someone who was born a rouge is pretty impressive.

I found it weird that there weren't any guards coming, you'd think being it we are in front of the  pack house that they would quickly outnumber the small group of rouges. I glanced at Ben who also seemed slightly uncertain, his eyes glazed over as I'm sure there was a heated discussion going on through the pack. Which was the down side of not being mated to Elias, I had no way of communicating in wolf form so everything at the moment was visual cues.

Ben must of mentioned my presence cause Keenan head snapped towards me, staring at me intently before going back to growling at Ryker. Finally a few more guards showed up, I could tell that they had already been in a fight with their teeth stained red, they lined up shoulder to shoulder behind Elias.

Usual fights involving rouges, their style is more go in fighting and if they live to regret it later. They usually aren't ones for strategy or talking like what's happening now. Rouges are odd, cause they don't necessarily have any loyalty to leaders as they are usually against authority , they move in groups purely cause wolves are pack animals. So for Ryker to have enough control over them that they go against their usual ways is quite the achievement in its own right.

My wolf was pushing for me to take Keenan's place as that is usually where the Alpha's mate would be, they might not necessarily take part in the fight, but they show their support and unity by being there at the start. Keenan stood in, which is not unusual as some unmated Alphas will have their beta's step in, usually a sign of a close bond between them, so although I wanted to be there, it was endearing to see.

My eyes narrowed as a wolf was pushed to the front of the group, it was digging its paws in the ground in a feeble attempt to stop moving and visibly shaking. The wolf looked terrified and was tiny so there is a good chance its was still a pup. The rouge was tri-colour, black and dark grey with an oddly familiar white patch on his chest though it was covered in dirt.  My stomach turned uneasily knowing if and when the fight breaks out, the wolf will stand no chance. Which would be good news if it wasn't for that white patch on his chest and the fact his colours were a mix of Elias and Ryker. Something in my gut stirred uneasily.

The air shifted, Ryker and Elias leaping forward with claws out and jaws snapping, signalling that the fight has begun. in the commotion I lost my sight on the pup, which had my heart dropping heavily in my stomach, I knew I only had a few seconds to get to the pup before it could potentially get ripped to shreds.

I let out a breath of relieve when I found him he was flat against the floor of where he stood moments before. I quickly set off running towards him, the closer I got the smaller he got, it was definitely just a pup as he was smaller then Willow. Reaching him I grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and continued to run into the cover of the trees.

He kept quiet for the most part, not even a struggle only a high pitched yelp when I picked him up and the odd whimper. I reached the stream slowing down as I approached it, mentally apologizing as I placed him in the rushing ice cold water. I kept my grip on the scruff of his neck making sure his head was above water. I hoped the dirt would wash away so I could see his mark better, taking him out I placed him on the dry ground, letting him go with a low warning growl. i didn't have the chance to check the mark as he shifted, curling into a ball almost instantly. Muffled sobs wreaking his tiny body. I was right when I said he was young, way to young to go into battle. The boy was incredibly skinny, his ribs protruding harshly, his milky white skin littered with scars that I can only assume were silver burns.

My heart shattered, I can't imagine what his boy has been through to end up looking like this. I carefully stepped closer before laying down, curling my body around his, knowing he's way to weak to be able to regulate his heat. I felt sorry for dunking him in freezing water as he was now soaking wet in the middle of winter.

I didn't move for a few minutes, allowing the boy to calm himself slightly and warm up, hopefully figure out that I was no threat. I could hear his racing heartbeat and chattering teeth, he hesitated but lowered his arms from around his head, lifting his head to look at me with wide tearful eyes.

My ears twitched hearing approaching footsteps, I got up from my laying position getting a terrified yelp as the boy once again curled into a ball. Stepping over him protectively, I made sure he was out of sight from who ever was coming. Thankfully it was Ben along with a few other guards, I let out a breath of relief. Stepping back I glanced down to find the boy had shifted back into his wolf, looking ready to bolt, though now he was putting on his brave face as a small growl left his lips.  I let out a snort, before picking him up from the scruff of his neck once more, I gave a small nod to Ben who looked uncertain as he stared at the pup between my jaws, letting out a sigh.

We arrived at the pack house, the fight was over with a clear winner. the mangled and unrecognizable bodies of rouges littering the blood stained ground. The pup whimpered as we stepped over them. It was a blood bath and I'm thankful that I managed to get the pup out before he became apart of it. I didn't see Elias, or Keenan for that matter, as I entered the pack house which is probably a good thing for the moment. I climbed the flight of stairs to the second floor hoping to find an open spare bedroom which was unsuccessful but I did find a conference room instead.

Placing him down in a corner, where he flopped down limp which concerned me slightly as I shifted back. "Hey pup" I called softly, gently combing my fingers through his matted soaked fur on his head. My head turned when someone opened the door, finding Ben with some clothes and a towel. "Life saver" I muttered as handed me a spare set of trousers which I quickly put on.

"It your head on the line Dillion. Alpha won't allow it. Anything that has a connection with Ryker is as good as dead" Ben stated, stepping in the room and closing the door behind him. I grabbed the towel quickly dying the wolf off. Mentally berating myself for putting him in the river. "How is he?" Ben asked softly crouching by my side.

"Can you get Keenan please?"

Keenan stared at the pup, combing his fingers gently over the white patch on it's chest "It's impossible" He muttered shaking his head. We had moved from the conference room to the apartment I had stayed in last time. The pup was bundled up in blankets on the couch passed out in wolf form. "Elias's parents died over fifteen years ago, I was there. Luna Alice was not pregnant and if she was, it would of been early days, the kid would of died with her" Keenan mumbled eyebrows furrowed, "I can't see this as being Ryker's kid. He wouldn't raise an his son to be an omega. The kid would be a Ryker duplicate, vengeance and all." Keenan stated.

"Ryker wanted the kid dead. The only reason I saw him was because he was pushed to the front of the group. Ryker knew he'd stand no chance, knowing he would be ripped apart in seconds and no one would think twice, what's left of him after would be unrecognizable." I stated running a hand through my hair.

"Usually I could tell you how Elias is going to react but with this I'm not sure" Keenan stated looking up at me as he stood up, stretching as he did. "Generally anything involving Ryker never lives long apart from Ryker himself." Keenan stated rubbing the back of his neck. "I'll get the doc to check him over, hopefully he'll wake up before Elias finds him. Either way the kid is probably safest with you." Keenan said, I thanked him as he left.
