Dillion Scott | Red-moon

"Why though? I'm not taking over this pack" I said. In a last effort bid to get out of going to an event that really had nothing to do with me. Though I'm not liking my chances as Mum sighed in annoyance. The event in question was the Red-Moon festival, it was coming up this weekend and has been something that I've been dragged along too since I could walk. I didn't see the point in going to an event that was targeted to Alpha's and Betas, the fact that they extend the invite to their families is all good and well but its not a requirement. I'm a fully grown man, its not like they cant trust me to be home alone for a few days.

Every two years the Moon turns red, a natural phenomenon that human scientists have yet to figure out the reasoning behind. For the supernatural realm, it wasn't just a cool solar occurrence that happens biyearly, it had some significance, hence why there is a festival surrounding it. The moon turns red for around 5 nights and it never really sets as through the day as it is still visible, having a pink tint to it. For were-wolves like my self, it meant that our inner wolves were closer to the surface making our senses heighten. It was also a time where wolves were more likely to find their soulmates, new pups will shift for their first time, so it is call for celebration. I just didn't want to go to the conference, which is held in Utah. The novelty of going to the same five star resort in the mountains really wears off after the third time attending as an adult.

"You might find your mate" Mother said in her last ditch effort to convince me to come which I rolled my eyes at. The same packs have been going to the conference for years, I have basically grown up with my possible suiters that attend the festival.

Most wolves (if their are lucky) find their mates  between eighteen and twenty three, I'm part of the unlucky few who have yet to find their other halves. Apparently at twenty six, mother thinks I'm running out of time to find them. My two older brothers both have found their mates and at this rate my younger sisters will find mates before me.

"You are coming with us Dillion."  My father finalized as he walked into the kitchen, placing his empty coffee mug in the sink. I sighed in slight defeat, the slight Alpha tone in his voice had all of my counter arguments belly up in submission. Father or not, he is the Alpha and I unfortunately am not immune to his orders.

It's a common thing for female wolves to have children young, usually with in a year of meeting their mates. Mum and dad have known each other since they were young children so when it was revealed they were in fact mates at eighteen, it wasn't long before she had my eldest brother, Nicholas when she was nineteen.

Two years later Josiah unexpectedly came along, he recently celebrated his twenty eighth birthday. Mum kept the pattern going with me arriving two years after that, with three boys under ten Mum had a break from having kids for nine years before giving birth to Addison, and another unexpected pregnancy with Willow three years later.

With in the pack hierarchy, Technically Nicholas was the only sibling in our family to have a status as heir, the rest of us either had to earn our place up the ranks otherwise we are at the same standing as anyone else. Josiah worked his way up the ranks, earning him a place in the as a chief in the Pack Guard which is a step below being a Beta.

Willow was a natural healer and is leaning heavily into the medical profession.  Addison is still undecided on what path she wants to go. In the past year I've found interest in tracking, so I've pursued that route. Tracking takes years of training and experience to be in anyway good at it so apart from my natural wolf tracking ability, I've got very little skill in the field.
