[JACKSON AVERY]
Seattle, Washington˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚
Jackson Avery's day did not go exactly as he planned. While his morning surgeries were a success, and his patients were very happy with the results, regardless of the post-op swelling, what came after was sure enough to rid him of the dandy mood.
First, it was Bella Ledford, his best friend, who managed to cross his attitude. Jackson was a little bit too excited and chatty to finally get to Bella's presentation later on in the day, which resulted in the neurosurgeon feeling on the edge and, eventually, snapping at him.
"You are saying too much, Jackson," she sighed at him as she sat back in her chair, answering his question that wondered if he had said something wrong. Jackson lost his breath for a second or two, and he felt like his cheeks were burning from embarrassment. That, he did not understand. Sudden hot flushes threatened him whenever she looked at him a little differently than usual.
Jackson figured he did not like it.
"I need to focus. And I can't do that if you keep chewing my ear off about how amazing this surgery is. If you want to be supportive, and know more about this, then wait for me in the lecture hall like everyone else."
Her thoughts finished off for him were built of sharp edges. Jackson tried to get near it but he found he got scraped and snitched every time he did. All he could do was stand back and accept his fate. Even if it was not what he usually did when facing Bella as he enjoyed her company too much to not spend more time with her.
That was one of the many things that brought a never ending smile to his face. Jackson and Bella could've been anywhere, doing anything and it would've been just as fun if they sat around in complete silence. Spending any sort of time together was worthwhile because they had so little of it. Majority of their days were spent in the hospital, either buried beneath paper work or standing above a patient in the OR. These responsibilities didn't leave much time for hobbies, nevermind friends. It was only right for the Avery surgeon to cherish the relationship he had with Bella because it wasn't very common to come by.
Not a moment later, Jackson got on his feet and said, "Okay, then," before he turned around and left. It made him feel like he lost something while his lack of presence did not seem to phase Bella in the slightest.
What he had to understand was the pressure that must've weighed Bella down completely. The surgery she planned on doing was something no one had ever done before. Naturally, this led all the eyes around the world to focus on her, and every little thing she was or wasn't doing throughout. Of course, Jackson wanted to help. Anything to make sure she felt less like being crushed under a ton of weight. If that meant leaving her alone, then he was going to do that, no matter how much he disliked it.
It didn't, however, take away from the little crush of heart that it caused him to find her so annoyed by his presence. Perhaps the pure thought of that caused him to jump into an argument with his girlfriend, Dr Edwards, in one of the on-call rooms shortly afterwards. At first, he found he was called away for sexual favours which he usually welcomed with open arms and eager actions following it soon after.
