[BELLA LEDFORD]
Seattle, Washington˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚
Bella had lost count of how many times she yawned that day. It started off fairly understandable, given how early she woke, and got to work. She was fine with the teared-up eyes and long sighs until ten in the morning. After that, she grew annoyed by it and she could tell it began to piss Bailey off, too. Who, by the way, was working on a patient with her.
"You," she pointed at Bella, then pulled some cash out of her coat pocket, and nudged it towards her. "Are going to get yourself down to the cafeteria and buy yourself a coffee—two, if you need it, and wake up. I need you in that meeting in ten minutes, understood?"
Bella saluted, "Yes, Chief," and then failed. She yawned again. "Sorry," she mumbled through it but Bailey only shook her head with the most unamused facial expression, ever.
Not waiting for more from the surgeon, Bella turned on her heel and did as she was told. She made her way over to buy two cups of coffee and sat there until the last drops were gone. While she'd done that, she tried to figure out why she was still so exhausted. Catherine Avery and Richard Webber's wedding was now three days ago, and yet, she was acting like she woke up the following morning.
She blew raspberries with her mouth after she had both cups of the hot beverage and found it had given her a hot flush. Her mouth tasted bitter and her breath was disgusting, so she purchased a pack of chewing gums—she annoyingly ran out of her own that morning—and popped two of them in her mouth upon noticing that these were the shit version of the ones she'd usually buy.
Running two minutes late, she eventually made it into the meeting room where Bailey told her to go. In there, she came face to face with a group of interns, and two residents—Wilson and Warren—alongside Dr Torres, Dr Pierce, and lastly, Jackson. Bailey was nowhere in sight which made her huff out a relieved sigh.
"You look like shit, Bella," Callie laughed at her, so Bella sent a vulgar gesture of her finger to her as a reaction. "Still not recovered from the wedding?"
"I've told her to take a couple of days off to sleep it off," Jackson said, shaking his head at her disapprovingly. Yes, he did say that to her but she pretended not to hear it. Much like she did in that moment, when she chose to walk behind him, his head rolling back against the chair to follow her movements, and she plopped down on the spinney chair beside him.
Just in time, she got comfortable and Bailey waltzed in.
"Great, we're all here," the Chief said and then Bella zoned out as the surgeon began to talk more about the patient, blah, blah, blah.
It honestly put the strength of those coffees to test, their ability to snap Bella into place, because she was on the edge of yawning again. Not that she could afford it, not under the threatening glances Baily threw her way every now and again.
