Chapter 22 - The proposal

Mallory makes her way home and showers. Her and Shay have a date planned for that night and Mallory has just finished getting ready. Shay comes in the door all ready
"Hey you" Shay says as he gives Mallory a kiss
"Hey! Ready to go?" Mallory asks as she pulls away
"Yep! Oh how did your appointment go today?" Shay asks
"It went great! I can go back to active duty tomorrow!" Mallory adds as she grabs her bag
"That's great honey!" Shay says as she opens the door and they walk out
They then drive to a fancy restaurant and take a seat
"Octopus!?" Shay says as she looks at the menu
"Hey you picked...Snails!!!" Mallory says as she looks at the menu
"I'm gonna head to the bathroom real quick" Shay says as he gets up
Shay locks herself in a stall and calls Kelly
"I can't do it!" She says as he answers the phone
"Woah! Do what?" Kelly asks
"Propose! We're at a restaurant getting us to eat snails! I can't do it here!" Shay says panicking
"Okay calm down! Leave it to me" Kelly adds
"Your Chicago's biggest playboy! I doubt you've done anything romantic in your life!" Shay replies
"Hardy Har Har! I'll have you know that I have done very romantic things in my lifetime!" Kelly says as shay smiles
"1. That was a total Herrmann line there and 2. Was that in grade school?" Shay says as she laughs
"I'll text you the details!" Kelly says as he ends the call
Shay cleans herself up and heads back to the table
"Let's get out of here" Shay says as Mallory smiles
"Thank god!!" Mallory says as they get up and walk out
As they are driving shay gets a text message. She glances down at it to see that it's from Kelly
Kelly - Be at the firehouse in 5!
Shay smiles and starts to drive to the firehouse
"Shay? Where are we going?" Mallory asks
"I forgot something out my locker! I just need to jump in and get it!" Shay says as she smirks
When they arrive at the firehouse it's pitch black. Shay and Mallory walk up with their hands locked together. Then lights turn on to reveal everyone from the district and 51 standing. There is a heart made out of rose petals and candles lit everywhere
"What's going on?" Mallory asks as shay lets go of her hand
Trudy and Mouch are smiling in the corner
"Mallory?" Shay asks as Mallory turns to face her
Shay then gets down on one knee and Mallory lets out a shocked gasp
"From the moment I met you I knew you were the one for me. Your the kindest person I've ever met well when your not on the job" Shay says as everyone laughs
"You make me the best version of myself and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you so Mallory Platt Davis will you do me the honours on becoming my wife?" Shay asks as she gets the ring out
"Yes! Of course!" Mallory says as shay places the ring on her finger and Mallory hugs her
"I love you" Shay whispers
"I love you too" Mallory says as everyone crowds round them
"Congratulations partner!" Antonio says as he smiles
Everyone congratulated them and they end the night with a few drinks at Molly's....
