Chapter 54 - Promise?

It's the next morning and Mallory has just walked into the district. Antonio is the only one there and is sitting on the edge of his desk.
"I'm sorry, I overreacted" Antonio explains
"Give me a heads up if your gonna yell at me again" Mallory says as she sits down at her desk
"Mal" Antonio sighs
"I try my best you know! It's hard getting pregnant and being a cop. It means that I need to go on desk duty and I might not have a job to come back too" Mallory explained
"I can't loose you okay? Believe it or not but I need you Mal" Antonio said as Mallory smiled
"I need you too, come here" Mallory says as she hugs him
"Good morning to you too, love birds" Adam adds as the rest of the unit walks in
"I see you two have made amends" Hailey says as she smiles
"Yeah, he can't get rid of me that easily" Mallory laughs
"Hey Davis?" Voight asks as he puts a hand over his phone which is up to his ear
"Yep?" Mallory asks
"I need you to run down to med, there's a 10 year old boy I need a statement from" Voight explains before walking back into his quarters
"Copy that" Mallory says as she grabbed her keys and walked out
She arrived at med a short time later and was greeted by Will
"Hey" He says as he gave her a hug
"Hey will, I'm here to see the boy that Voight wants a statement from?" Mallory explains
"Oh right! Lucas! He sustained a lot of injuries from the accident but he's stable and talking so you should be good to talk to him" Will explains
"Thanks will" Mallory says before walking in
Mallory walks into Lucas's room to see him lying on the bed with cuts and bruises everywhere.
"Hey buddy" Mallory says
"Hi..." Lucas says as he rubs his arm
"I'm Mallory. It's nice to meet you bud" Mallory says as she sits down
"I guess" Lucas adds
"Can you tell me anything that happened today,?" Mallory asks
"Well my dad was driving to take me to pick out my birthday present Uhm because I only get to see him on weekends" Lucas explains
"Wow! When's your birthday?" Mallory asks, enthusiastically
"It's on Thursday" Lucas says
"No way! That's my birthday too! How about I come celebrate with you? Because I know where Dr.Halstead keeps his secret stash of candy and I can steal some for you?" Mallory laughs
"You would do that?! What kind of candy!?" Lucas asks as he smiles
"Oh loads of different types but you can't tell anyone" Mallory explains
"Okay" Lucas adds
"Do you promise?" Mallory asks as she smiles
"I promise" Lucas mutters
"Now can you tell me anything else?" Mallory asks as she smiles
After an hour Mallory has finished her statement, on her way out will catches up with her
"I heard congratulations we're in order?" He says
"Yep! I guess they are" Mallory laughs
"You were great with Lucas in there, your gonna be an amazing mom" Will adds
"Thanks will" Mallory smiles
