Lets just say it was a really long day for Mallory. She had responded to a very bad call ending in 6 minors getting shot and killed. Mallory was the first to respond and as usual blames herself. She gets home not planning to share any of this with shay.
"Hey!" Shay shouts from the kitchen
"Hi!" Mallory says as she dumps her bags and walks over to the kitchen
"Diners almost ready" Shay says as she grabs the plates
"Great" Mallory replies as shay looks at her
"I have a proposition for you" Shay says as she smiles
"What's up?" Mallory asks
"I want a kid" Shay blurts out
"What?" Mallory asks shocked
"I want a baby! I wanna hold them in my arms and give them cuddles" Shay says as she sits next to Mallory and takes her hands
"Shay. Do you know how much that would cost and with the wedding-" Mallory says before shay cuts her off
"About that, I thought we could elope!" Shay says as Mallory looks at her
"Elope! No way shay! I can't do that to mouch! Or Trudy! Or the unit!" Mallory yells
"I get that! But wouldn't you rather a baby!" Shay shouts
"I'm 23! And your 24! We have years left to have a kid! Why do we need to have one right now! We can get married first!" Mallory yells
"What if I don't wanna get married?" Shay yells as Mallory's face falls
"Okay. So what your saying is you don't wanna get married to me" Mallory says as she gets up and grabs her bag
"Mal. I didn't mean it like that" Shay says
"I'm gonna stay at my place tonight. Probably better if I take it off the market" Mallory says before walking out
"Mallory!" Shay shouts but she is already gone
Kelly is standing on the stairs and has just made a creek
"Hear all of that did you?" Shay asks not lifting her head off of the table
"Mhm" Kelly replies as he sits next to her
"Did I just call of my wedding?" Shay asks
"Don't know if I'm qualified to give this advice you know considering I had more than 1 girlfriend at a time but I'll give it a go" Kelly says as shay shoots him a look
"I don't think Mallory's ready for a kid yet. As she said she is only 23. That's young for some people. I get it you have the money to get treatment for a kid. With her being on a detectives salary and you being on the PIC's salary. But maybe she wants to put that money towards a wedding. Maybe she wants Mouch to walk her down the aisle" Kelly explains as shay looks at him
"I've messed up" Shay says as she lays her head on Kelly's shoulder
"I get it. And I get that you want a kid shay. But you have to consider her feelings as well" Kelly says as he smiles
"I know, trust me" Shay replies
