Riona's POV
We had another test coming up so I and Lee decided to study at my house.
"Sorry, I have to take this call," Lee informed me
"Sure," I replied leaning back in my chair and sipping on my glass of avocado smoothie
I stood up from my chair to use the bathroom accidentally eavesdropping on Lee's conversation.
"What do you mean? I told him I'll get the rent by today," He huffed in annoyance
Rent? Doesn't he live with his parents?
"There's no need to call the cops," He replied his voice strained and panicky
"I promise, please-"
"I don't have a gun but no I can't do that...Hold on fine...I'll get the car,"
What the hell was he doing talking about a gun?
I tiptoed back to the dining room trying my best to look neutral.
"Uh...I'm sorry, I have to go but thanks I think I can ace the test," He gave me a brief smile before hurriedly picking up his backpack and heading for the door.
"Bye!" I released a deep breath I didn't know I was holding in
"What kind of shady business is he doing?" I muttered to myself only to be interrupted by the loud ringing of my phone. Smiling to myself I picked up the call "Hello?"
...
Lee didn't show up at school for a whole week and it seemed like I was the only person who was worried
"Chill...He's probably taking a break from school, I mean it has been tiring these couple of days," Vivi suggested
"Right?" Ana huffed removing her glasses to clean them
"You should get contacts, you need them really," I commented
"Oh, how's Will?" Ana questioned and Vivi smiled
"We're good,"
"So have you?" I wiggled my brows at her
"Nope but we're good," She smiled
"Where does Mel go these days?" Vivi sighed as we walked into the cafeteria
"Connor," Ana stated
We take a seat at our lunch table and Ethan is absent from the table
"Coco, Where's Ethan?"
"He's feeling under the weather," She smiled "He didn't come to school today,"
"Yeesh, everyone seems to be avoiding school these days, is there something we don't know?" Ana questioned and Coco dropped her fork with a loud clink
"Not at all," Coco shook her head and I tilted my head to stare at her
"Hey guys," Mel beams taking a seat at the table
"Long time no see, Is Connor going somewhere you've been spending a lot of time with him," Ana commented
Mel smiled in return taking a seat and I stare at her nearly empty plate, simply consisting of bottled water and greek yogurt.
"Is that all you're going to have for lunch?" Vivi asked shocked
"Yeah," she shifted uncomfortably in her seat
"You eat more than this," Coco pointed out
"I know right! Like she always goes for a lot of fries, sausages and chocolates," Vivi stated without caution and Mel flinched
"Are you sure you feel fine?" Ana asked
"Guys cut it out," Justin rolled his eyes
"Yeah, Ana stop interrogating her," Nico chimed in
"We're not," Vivi huffed "We're just trying to understand the situation,"
"I...I'm not-"
"Guys it's enough," Justin stated more adamantly
"I just-" Vivi started and I nudged her just as Mel stood up from the table
"I'll see you guys later," She announced walking away and throwing her meal in the trash
"Vivi, Ana...There was no need to go that far," I sighed
"It was just a question," Vivi rolled her eyes and the table fell silent everyone clouded with their thoughts.
I stared into my locker for a long time before taking a deep breath and trying Lee's number again.
Unavailable.
"Hey," Justin appears on my way to Vivi's car
"What's up?" I questioned
"So...My parents are gonna be home today and they wanted me to invite you over for dinner...Are you free?"
"Yeah," I smiled
"six thirty?"
"Six thirty," I repeated and he gave me a quick kiss before walking back to his car
"What were you two love birds talking about?" Ana asked
"Dinner, at his place,"
"No funny business?" Vivi questioned
"Of course no funny business,"
"What are you gonna tell your dad?" Vivi asked and I sighed
...
"You can go but you have to take Roxy,"
"Dad!" I yelled covering my red face "I can't,"
"She's going to cause so much trouble,"
I've had dinner with Justin's parents a couple of times, they were easy to talk to but adding my sister into the equation was like asking for an earthquake and tornado together.
"I'm not!" Roxy appeared huffing
"Fineee," I groaned stomping my feet all the way upstairs
"Don't talk about how I snore, don't talk about my morning breath, and most importantly do not talk about me and Justin kissing or anything stupid,"
"Got it," Roxy rolled her eyes filing her nails
I dash for the door after hearing a soft knock.
"Are you ready?" Justin asked me beaming
"We're ready!" Roxy replied poking her head outside
"She's coming?" Justin raises his brow a smirk forming on his lips
"Yeah, yeah," I dragged him by the arm towards the car
"To the Jones Mansion!" Roxy yelled
"This is going to be a long night," I muttered to myself sinking in my seat
Dinner was surprisingly peaceful and Roxy did stay in line. I kept praying throughout dinner she wouldn't say anything stupid. She actually got along with Justin's mom.
