"What in the world...What happened to you?" I whispered staring at a bloody Lee with cuts on his face. He staggered one of his eyes closed and he fell into my arms
"Let's just go inside," I grunted pulling him to stand upright and locking the door behind me
His breathing was ragged and heavy as I placed his hand over my shoulder as we made our way to my room. The sound of a door opening made me whip my head around and my dad came out of his room. He was backing us and my eyes widened. I stood still in the darkness with Lee watching as he made his way downstairs.
I opened the door swiftly, walking in with Lee shutting it behind me, and turning the lock.
I sat him down checking for the first aid kit in my room.
"What the hell happened?" I questioned putting a plaster over the last of his wounds
"Can I get some water?" He asked looking a lot better than when I met him at the door
I sighed before making my way to the door and heading downstairs.
Noticing the light in dad's study was on I peeked through the creak of the door.
"Livia you gotta take a break from work, please, the kids miss you, I miss you,"
Silence
"Okay, I'm sorry about that, I told you we didn't do anything she's just a friend and if you don't want me talking to her again then I won't,"
My dad and some other woman? I knew my dad would never do anything to hurt us as a family nor to hurt my mom.
Mom probably misunderstood his friendship with whatever woman he was talking about. She was making excuses, she's just married to her job, no excuses, she had no right to accuse my dad of such when no one had any idea what she got up to at work.
"Okay, but can you just let us all be together for a day? Saturday perhaps?"
Silence
"Olivia, plea-"
He pulled the phone away from his ear before sighing. He took a seat and I tiptoed back to the kitchen getting water for Lee. I definitely didn't want to see my dad breakdown, I didn't want to see what effect my mom's absence caused him.
"Riona, is that you?"
"Yes, dad,"
He switched on the lights and stared at me whilst I gripped the glass tightly
"Are you okay?" He asked
"I'm good," I assured him "I was just getting water,"
"Okay," He sighed before doing a double take "Is that blood on your hand?"
I stared down at my hand noticing the blood which probably got on me while I was tending to Lee's wounds
"It's nothing," I shrugged "It's a scratch,"
"Do you want me to clean it for you?"
"It's fine dad, I'll do it up in my room," I smiled at him before making my way upstairs
I closed the door behind me before attempting to steady my breaths, I switched on the lights and Lee was still seated at the edge of the bed. I handed him the water and he finished it within seconds.
"Are you going to tell me what happened?" I asked seating on my study chair
"Your room is huge," He whistled lowly
"Hey," I snapped my fingers "Don't change the conversation,"
"I was working and I got into a fight," He stated simply and I stared at him for a while.
His pupils dilated and I snapped my fingers
"You're lying," I stated and he smiled
"Lying? I just told you exactly what happened,"
He was definitely lying but I wasn't going to ask him again.
"What about the phone call? What was that about?"
"At the basketball court?"
"Yes,"
"I was called to come and work, I have bills to pay, you know, Can I get some sleep now?"
"Sure, but you're taking the couch," I pointed to the couch which faced the widow showcasing the City lights. I loved looking at New York from the couch the view was great but the view from the balcony was even better.
"Your room is huge," He stated again
"Thanks?" I smiled and he walked over to the couch
"The city looks amazing from here," He stared outside
There's a balcony," I informed him and he turned to look at me
"Really?"
"Yeah," I opened the balcony door and his eyes widened
He stepped into the balcony admiring the view "Exactly why I love New York,"
I turned my head to stare at him, smiling I spoke up "We should go to bed, we have school in a couple of hours,"
Something felt off but I couldn't tell...
