TW: slight reaction to poisoning
"Hey, how is Virgil?" Remus asked when he found his brother pacing outside of the infirmary.
"The healers said that he'll live, that he didn't ingest too much poison," Roman explained, but it sounded like he was mostly reminding himself. His wings were opening and closing and he had his arms folded across his chest. He was filled with nervous energy.
"Well I figured, I mean, is he okay?"
"Sorta? The good news is most of the poison is out of his system now."
"That's good."
"The bad news is that's because he threw up."
"Oh... so bad reaction to being poisoned."
"Is there a good reaction?"
Remus shrugged and hummed the 'I don't know' noise.
Roman sighed, his shoulders dropping. "He seemed to be better after that, but he fell asleep and the healers asked me to wait outside. His hands were shaking so much, Remus, and I wasn't sure if it was because of the poison or the fear. He was afraid!"
Remus put his hand on his brother's shoulder to ground him. "Hey, he'll be fine. When you ate belladona you couldn't stop throwing up."
"Gee, thanks for the reminder."
"So if he only threw up once, that means he's having a better reaction than you did. He didn't eat as much as you did when you were younger. Plus, any and all damages that are caused by the poisoning can be reversed by the healers."
"You're right, yeah you're right. Thank you, Rem."
Remus let go of Roman's shoulder before smacking it hard. "No problem!"
"Ow!"
"Oh don't be such a baby. You should head to bed though, it's getting late."
"I'm not leaving until I know Virgil is okay. What if the person who poisoned him tries a more direct approach? He could be killed!"
"So you're guarding your guard?"
"My guard who was poisoned, Remus."
"He's going to be okay, trust me. And Virgil, trust him too."
"I'm not leaving."
Remus sighed, "Fine. But the moment you know he's okay, you're going to bed."
"Okay. Good night."
"Night." Remus stayed a moment longer before flying off. He could see how worried Roman was, and they were still no closer to finding out who had attempted to poison Virgil. Whoever did it, they had planned it out well, having the one plate that had belladonna go to the borrower. They would have to question the servers, and the chefs.
Several hours had passed before Jasmine walked out from the infirmary. She was one of the fairies that had been taking care of Virgil, Roman trusted her. She called him, "Prince Roman?"
"Jasmine," Roman said, standing up from where he was sitting on the branch. "Is he okay?"
"Yes, and he's awake again. You can see him if you want. Though, I suggest getting some rest after."
"Thank you," the prince told her before flying in.
Virgil was sitting up on the bed, he looked pale but other than that he seemed okay. He smiled the moment he saw the fairy.
"Roman," the borrower greeted, happy to see him.
"Virgil, are you okay?" Roman asked, flying straight to him and grabbing his hands.
