"Glad to see you're feeling better," Virgil told Janus as they walked through the forest. The other four were with them as well, Logan, Patton, Remus, and Roman, though Virgil didn't really know where they were going.
He was twirling his new knife around as they walked, the sheath tied to his leg. Roman was really happy he had gotten it for Virgil since the borrower seemed to love it a lot.
"Just a few days of rest, that was all I needed," Janus told him.
"Patton helped out the most! Janus got a fever once and Patton was able to help bring it down," Remus explained.
"Oh yeah, Roman shouldn't you be learning lessons from Patton and Jasmine?" Virgil reminded him. "You haven't done that yet."
"Huh, you're right. I'll start asking questions tomorrow then. But for today we're doing something else."
"Yeah, what is that by the way?"
"You didn't tell him?" Logan asked, now looking at the prince suspiciously.
"I... wanted it to be a surprise?" Roman lied.
"Where are we going?" Virgil forcefully asked, not liking the situation anymore.
"We're going back to the human's house!" Remus told him.
"Nope, absolutely not," Virgil said, grabbing Roman's hand and trying to walk away. But the prince just stopped in place, trying to go the opposite way.
"Please? The human was really nice last time, I'm sure he won't hurt us!" Roman tried to reason.
Virgil continued to try to pull. "I have seen humans hurt my kind before, I don't trust any of them!"
"Hurt them how?" Remus asked.
"They've gotten run over, stuck in traps set by humans, some humans have kicked them or hit them with a stick, a million ways!"
"This human is okay though!" Roman promised.
"Didn't he trap Logan in a cup?"
"To be fair, he probably thought I was a giant bug. He was quite pleasant to talk to after I was let go," Logan reminded him.
"Hey!" Roman grabbed Virgil by the waist, lifting him up and putting him on his shoulder.
"The human is nice! We'll be fine," Roman said.
Virgil sighed, deflating against the prince. "I'm not going to win, am I?"
"Nope! Let's go!"
"At least put me down."
"Oh right." The prince set him down, but grabbed his hand and continued to hold it. "Now let's go."
Virgil sighed, putting his knife away but he kept his hand hovering over the handle just in case. Now that he knows where they're going, he couldn't help but feel like his skin was crawling. He just hoped Roman was right and that they're going to be okay.
They reached the river a little bit after that, and Virgil attempted to cross on the ice but after it cracked Roman just picked him up and they flew over it. Not for the first time, Virgil was jealous of their wings.
After that, all they had to do was climb the hill where the human's house was. Of course, to save them time and energy, Roman just carried Virgil the rest of the way like last time.
Logan was practically buzzing with energy again as they reached the house once more. Of course, the window they broke was closed, so now they didn't know how to go in.
