"It really bothers me," Remus told Patton, rubbing his arms as they talked about how someone tried to hurt Roman. "I figured the reason we got home first was because they weren't even trying to beat us, but to hear about what happened?"
"Roman's okay, Virgil did his job and protected him," Patton reassured him. "And now he has extra guards, so he'll be okay."
"But why would someone want to hurt him? I just..." The prince sighed. "I need some air."
"Do you want to go outside?"
Remus nodded, standing up from his bed. "But I don't want to go out the normal way, that's too boring."
"Everything normal is boring to you."
"Which is why all my boyfriends are extraordinary."
Patton blushed brightly at the compliment, smiling wide. "Just like you, my little weirdo."
Remus walked over to the wall, creating an opening to the outside. For once, he was glad Roman's room was on the opposite wall, that way it would be harder to get to him.
He and Patton flew out, and he closed the hole. The two flew to a higher branch and sat on it together. Remus took a deep breath before releasing it.
Patton shivered from the night winter air. "It's so cold."
"Yeah, but I like it," Remus said. "We can cuddle to keep warm if you'd like, though."
"Okay, but we shouldn't be out here for too long."
The prince smiled over at him before scooting closer and wrapping his boyfriend in his arms. "I know, just for a little bit."

On the opposite side of the tree, Virgil was carefully trying to remove the wicker netting from the window. Once he finished quietly removing it, he took one last look at his room.
He left the note he found out in the open, in case something happens to him and he won't be able to tell anyone. He really hoped that it wouldn't come to that, but he had a feeling it would.
He wore his cloak and a long sleeved shirt. He had his knife strapped onto his leg, hoping it'll be hidden by his cloak
Carefully, he climbed out of the window and started to climb his way down on the bark. He strained his ears for anything other than himself, but the forest was eerily quiet. Everything was in hibernation, had migrated, or was just asleep.
His anxiety made him feel sick, whoever wanted him out here alone obviously had bad plans for him. He didn't know if he would be strong enough to win a fight against a nature fairy, but for Roman's sake he had to try. If anything happened to him, then he'll at least know the prince will be safe.
Virgil took a deep breath as he reached the ground. He couldn't help but shiver at the cold air as he looked around. They had to be here somewhere.
A sound made Virgil's ears perk up, and he didn't even bother to turn around before jumping out of the way.
It was a good call, since a wooden spike from one of the roots had shot out to where he was a moment ago. He couldn't have afforded a second, and he thanked his instincts.
He saw the hooded fairy again, they were still wearing a wooden mask. The borrower quickly pulled out his knife, realizing there was no point in hiding it since this fairy wasn't planning on talking.
Maybe if he can knock them out, then they'll be able to put them in prison! Roman won't have to have any guards, and Virgil will be able to get out of this alive!
