CW: continuation of Virgil's curse
Patton sighed, trying to keep up his stamina as he used his magic to keep the water against the black marks on Virgil. It had grown more, now branching onto his cheek under his right eye. It stretched across his nose slightly, and worse yet started to spread on his ear.
That worried Roman a lot, he could only imagine the pain that brought. He remembered the borrower saying his ears and tail were sensitive, so that had to hurt the most.
Virgil hadn't woken up in a while. Not like it would have made any difference since every time he did wake up, it was only for a few minutes before he passed out again.
There was a battle in Roman's mind. He just wanted Virgil to be okay, and finally rest, but he didn't know when that would be. What if that will only happen when he dies? What if there really was no cure?
No, no, the thought of losing him hurt too much. He had to believe the others will find something in time, he doesn't know what he'll do if Virgil doesn't make it.
"Roman!" Remus shouted, bursting into the room and startling the two. "We found it! We found a cure!"
Roman blinked tears out of his eyes, instantly standing up. "You-you did?"
Remus went over to a closet, pulling out a stretcher. "Yes! But we need to bring him somewhere else, can you move him?"
"I-I don't know," Patton answered honestly. "It could agitate his injuries. But if it will help him, then I suppose you can. Only if you're careful of course."
"Okay," Roman promised, shaking slightly. He reached out to pick up Virgil, but hesitated. What if he hurt Virgil? He was shaking too much to carefully pick him up. He looked desperately at his brother. "Remus?"
"Don't worry, I'll do it. Just breathe, he's going to be okay."
The crown prince blinked tears back as they gathered in his eyes again. He nodded and let himself take deep breaths.
He didn't dare look away as Remus slowly picked Virgil up, making the borrower whimper slightly. Patton didn't stop using his magic, keeping the water against Virgil. He was slowly lowered down onto the stretcher, frowning in pain.
Roman's heart clenched when Virgil whined in pain, squinting his eyes open. The prince rushed over to his side, grabbing his left hand.
"Hold on, little mouse, we're going to help you," he promised. "Everything is going to be okay."
"Patton, do you think you have enough energy to follow us to the river?" Remus asked.
"I think so," Patton replied.
"Okay, good. Roman, help me carry him to the river."
Roman nodded. "Anything to help."
Remus picked up one side of the stretcher, and Roman picked up the other. Patton used one hand to keep the water on the borrower, and opened the door with his other.
The two princes flew out as fast as they carefully could. Roman followed in the back, keeping an eye on Virgil who's breath quickened in pace. He had no idea what was going on through the borrower's mind, and just hoped that this nightmare would be over soon.
"What's the cure?" Roman asked his brother.
"Apparently it's a magic that us fairies can't use, but something called a witch can!" Remus explained. "Turns out Thomas, the giant, his boyfriend is a witch! He can use what Logan called purity magic!"
"That other giant has magic?" Patton asked.
"I guess so! And he says he can cure this curse! We're meeting them at the river!"
