Shit! I feel like shit. I'm not drinking any time soon. Okay that was a lie and I knew it. For the first time, I hated my job. I picked up my phone on the floor and found two missed calls from Jas. Just great. I called her back. She answered on the first ring...
“Hi Jas.”
“Hi baby. You don't sound okay.”
There's no lie in that statement. “I'm good Jas. Just a minor headache.”
“Okay. Drink lost of water and some orange juice.”
Isn't she a lovely, caring girlfriend? “Thanks I'll do that.”
“Are we good Khanyi? I waited for your call, until I fell asleep.”
“I sent a text Jas.”
“What text? I didn't get any text from you.”
What does she mean by that. I looked at my messages and the message was not sent. Oops. My bad.
“I'm sorry. I just checked my messages it looks like I forgot to press send. But yeah I got home safe.”
“Glad to hear that. Listen baby I'm really sorry for how our weekend ended. I'll make it up to you I promise.”
Promises. Promises. Promises.
“I have to go bath now. I'll see you later at the gym.”
“I love you Khanyi.”
“I love you too.”After my shower I felt better. I looked like I was in a horror movie but nothing a bit of concealer can't fix.
Why isn't there breakfast on the table? Then I heard my parents laughing at the pool side. I opened the door and there they were. Looking like teenagers in love. I smiled looking at them. My mom was sitting on top of my dad, feeding him bacon. Than kissed him. A slow passionate kiss. “Euww! Get a room.”
They continued to kiss before my dad spanked my mom on the ass. Don't tell me these two still have sex at their age. Okay they not that old but euww.
“This is how you were made Khanyi. Stop being dramatic.”
“Haibo Baba. Too much information.”
They both laughed. “You look like shit my baby.” Angelique.
“I feel like shit. Anyway I have great news bazali bami.”
“Don't tell me Jasmin has already proposed. Is that the reason why you looked stressed yesterday?” Dad asked.
“No Baba. No one proposed. Indigo is in SA!” I happily said.
“Indigo. As in your cousin indigo?” Angelique.
“Yes her. She said she will see us later though.”
“How come your aunt Veronica never said anything about Indigo coming?”
“When was the last time you spoke to your sister my love? It was probably a surprise. Don't look so sad.” Baba.
“Yeah you right. Why didn't she come straight here then?”
“Mom, it was late she decided to sleep at the hotel instead.”
“But still Khanyi she should have came here.”
“Mom you will ask her questions when she gets here. Right now I have to leave.”
I kissed her on the cheek and grabbed my car keys. “Don't I get a kiss?” I went and kissed my dad as well then I left.When I arrived at work I sent Indigo a text;
Cuzz, if you planning on sleeping at the hotel today. Don't. Angelique knows you're here and she wants to know, why she wasn't told that you're coming. She replied.
Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't planning on staying at a hotel forever. Only last night. I'll see you later.Stop the lift! When I got in. It was only Lutendo. He must be back from his leave. “Good morning sir.”
“A good morning indeed, Ms Ngcobo.”
The lift stopped at our floor and we both got out. “Enjoy the rest of your day Ms Ngcobo.” Lutendo said as he went to his office.
Someone is in a good mood. I went to the coffee station, made myself some coffee before heading to my cubicle.Just before our lunch break we had a small meeting. Only to be told that there's a possibility that we might be moving to a new place soon. To have more office space. And maybe hire two more graduates. I'm just glad they won't be letting anyone go.
We made it a regular thing to order at Mam’ Mavis stand every Monday.
I didn't have the appetite to eat anything. I didn't feel well.
“Someone partied the weekend away.” Kieran said.
“More like I drank my liver away.”
“Look who decided to grace us with his presence today.” Alex.
“Khumo dude!” the guys shoulder bumped one another. “You were missed.”
“Hey ladies.” Khumo.
After all the greetings Rendz and Kele pulled me to another couch.
“So...”
I looked at Rendz with confusion. “So what?”
“How was your weekend dummy? You had fun right. But you look like shit.”
Kele burst into laughter. “Askies chommie but you look like shit. Isn't one supposed to look like a goddess after sex? Glowing and all that shit? Or am I the one having half sex?”
“Haha funny. My weekend was okay. The sex was amazing.”
“Trust me I know. Lesbians will rock your world. They give the best sex. But they will break your heart as well.” Rendz said the last part lowly.
Me and Kele looked at her. “Girl what do you mean by ‘they give the best sex’?”
She moved closer to us. “I've had sex with girls before. There was this other one. My word, she blew my tits off throughout that relationship. Until she broke my heart into crystal pieces. After work I drove home to freshen up before I went to the gym. I heard loud laughter in the lounge. I lost my mind when I saw Indigo. I ran to her and gave her a bone crushing hug. “You really are here you slut!”
“Language!!” Angelique said.
“It's me in the flesh. Look at you though. You look all grown up.”
“You seem to forget that I'm a few months older than you.”
She rolled her eyes. Then stood up and went to the kitchen. I don't know if I'm seeing things but did I see a bump on her? She definitely looks pregnant. I went and changed into my gym gear before I went out, Indigo said I must wait for her she's coming with me.We silently drove to the gym. As I parked the car. I saw Jas in the parking lot. I went to her and gave her a side hug. “Hey babe.”
“Hey.” her eyes were more focused on Indigo.
“Jas this is my cousin Indigo. Indigo this is Jasmin.”
After introductions were made. We went inside.
Throughout the exercises, I would glance at Indigo’s tummy. Pregnancy is something so sacred, I don't even want to ask her questions. After our session we drove back home.“So that was the famous Jas?” Indigo asked as she threw herself on my bed.
“That was her. So what do you think about her?”
“You want my honest opinion babe?”
“I'm a big girl I can take it.”
“There's something off about her. I can't put my finger on it but there's something off about her. I might be wrong babe but I don't trust her.”
I laid next to her. Trying to digest what she just said to me.
“Listen Scar, I might be wrong. Don't try and analyse your relationship now. Enjoy it. If it doesn't work that's also okay.”
“I hear you. But she. She... Nevermind. Let's go take a shower, we smell!”
“You still love showers? Come on Scar.”
“Your puppy eyes won't work this time around. Let's take a shower and go have dinner.”After our shower we went to my room to get dressed. “I have something to tell you.”
“What?”
“I'm pregnant!”
“No ways!” I jumped up and down on the bed. I had my suspicions but it's not something I could just ask.
“I'm going to be a mom. But that's not all babe.”
“What can possibly top these news?”
“Close your eyes I'll show you.”
I did as told. “Did you buy me a car?”
“Shut up and open your eyes.”
I nearly went blind. “Gods of diamonds! Is that.. is that what I think it is? Is that a diamond on your finger. Please tell me that's a massive diamond ring on your finger.”
“That idiot of mine finally proposed! He finally asked me to be his wife. A week later we found out that we expecting.”
“Talk about double blessings sthandwa sami. May you have a beautiful pregnancy.”We went downstairs to join the lovebirds at the dinner table. Indigo told them the great news. My parents were so happy you would swear I'm the pregnant one. Everyone went to bed after the great dinner we had.
