After my mom left after all that knocking I went and took a shower than went to join my parents for breakfast. I'm not a huge breakfast person I usually have a smoothie or some oats nothing hectic. By 07h15 I left for work, I work from 08h30 to 17h30 Monday-Friday.
As soon as I enter the building I have to sign in before heading to the office, it's office protocol for everyone. I greeted the cleaning ladies and Bab’Khumalo who is part of the security. “Hold the lift please!”
“Good morning” I greeted Mr Smith, our boss as I entered the lift.
“Good morning Scarlett” Mr Smith
Yep I had to ask Mr Smith to call me Scarlett instead of Khanyisile because it was a disaster. Even my mom is not that bad. We occupied three floors in the building, I got off on the second floor. I greeted the receptionist and headed to the left wing where me and other interns worked. There were six of us but divided into two groups. In my team it was, Keletso and Kieran we were under Lutendo's supervision, the other group under Cassandra's supervision. We were financial consultant interns since we were still graduates we had to be supervised and learn the ropes. Lutendo was a very chilled boss, he always wanted us to ask him questions if we didn't understand something. He never wanted us to pretend to understand something whilst we didn't. He let us make mistakes so we could learn from them as well. I was still consulting with a client when Kieran told me that Lutendo asked to see me in his office. I went to his office as soon as I was done with my second client. I went to his office, knocked and waited for him to grant me permission to enter.
“Come in!” Lutendo
I went in and sat down, he was consulting a client through Skype. Since he was still occupied, I decided to login to Facebook and as I was going through my inbox on Facebook I heard someone clear their throat and I looked up, only to find him starring at me. I know I shouldn't say this about my boss but good Lord, I was glad I was in Lutendo's team because dude was all kinds of hot. I loved his hazel brown eyes, don't get me started on his smile, ohhh and the body and height were icing on the cake. His choice in suits gosh, you would think they get tailored on his body! He could rock anything honestly, I know because I stalk him on Instagram and Facebook.“So Ms Ngcobo how are you finding your job?” Lutendo
“Ms Ngcobo?”
Shit! What did he ask me?
“Sorry sir, you were saying?”
Judging by that smirk, he knew I was day dreaming about him.
“I was asking how do you find your job, and working with your team members?”
“Uhm, I'm still finding my feet but so far I'm enjoying working here with everyone else.”
“Okay. If you have any questions or concerns my door is open, you may go back to work.”
As soon as I left his office I went to my working station and was glad I had no client. How could I sit there and day dream about my boss? I need to calm my tits down. Kele came over to my station to ask what we'll be eating today for lunch. On Mondays Kele and I bought lunch, Tuesdays lunch was bought by Kieran and Rendani, and on Wednesdays it was Khumo and Alexander and on Thursday and Friday everyone buys their own lunch.
“I was thinking we should buy by Mam’Mavis stand today, some pap, chakalaka and chops.”
“Sounds like a plan. I'll tell the others.”
After she left I prepared for my Skype client. Then I went to Mam’Mavis stand to place our orders before lunch time, otherwise we weren't going to get anything. Her food is that good and very affordable. On my way back to the office I decided to give my older brother a call, I missed him and the twins badly.
“MaNgcobo.” he answered
Trust Bonginkosi Ngcobo to go all Zulu Natal on you.
“Unjani myeni wam?”
I could hear his wife laughing in the background, that means they both were not working today.
“Ngiya phila mntaka ma. Unjani wena?”
“I'm well thanks, I just miss you and your family.”
“Hauw! Ihaba kodwa MaNgcobo, why don't you visit us? Fourways is not that far.”
“I know, I will try and visit you next week. Goodbye my client just walked in.”
“Sharp keh.”After my client left, Mam’Mavis called to let me know that our order is ready. I let the others know so we could all go down to her stand and eat there instead of at the office.
“Gosh! I needed this plate of food, this babalaas is pulling my tits today.” Keletso
“You always have babalaas on Mondays, Keletsow.” Alexander
“Well some of us live in the hood and it's always lit.” Keletso
“We need to go out together one day and explore the nightlife. You won't regret it.” Rendani
We all looked at her with shocked expressions. Rendani is like the Saint of all of us.
“Why are you all looking at me as if I just killed someone? Geez! I do go out as well you know, I know how to let loose and have fun.” Rendani
“Okay, let's go out next week Friday.” Kieran
We all agreed to go out next week. I was super excited, I couldn't remember the last time I went out and danced till the following day. Our lunch break was over, back to work.
My client was late so I used that time to go through my social media, nothing interesting on Instagram so I went to Facebook. I started with my inbox even though I knew that I'm going to find those annoying “hlw beautiful gal” messages like always, sighs. Afterwards I did my second job, being a sharist on Facebook. Facebook is definitely therapy for most of us, people are comedians on that app. I came across a post that read:*Imagine your boss no scratch that, your sexy boss catching you drooling over him, gosh, I've never been so embarassed*
I laughed and shared the post, because she was not the only one. As I was still laughing, Lutendo walked out of his office and went to Cassandra's office. Just as I was about to read one of those Facebook diaries, my client walked in, talk about no timing at all.
“Sorry I'm late, I kind of got lost.”
“Better late than never.” I said and faked a smiled.
As I was still listening to this woman blabbering about how she has been overspending her money on unnecessary things and now she's ready to get financial advice on how to save and invest her money, Lutendo and Cass walked out of the office laughing like old lovers. I rolled my eyes thinking no one saw me but I caught Kieran laughing, looking at my direction. I advised the woman to my best abilities then she left. Kieran walked over to my cubicle, “Ms Ngcobo why are you rolling your eyes at your bosses?”
“Arg! Los my uit Kieran.” (Leave me alone)
“Wat is jou probleem? Ek het net gevra.” (What's your problem? I was just asking)
"“Ek weet ek is jammer.” (I know, I'm sorry.)
“It's okay, my client is here let me leave you alone.” KieranI'm not one to snap at people for absolutely no reason. This could mean only one thing, I'm about to get my period. I quickly went to the bakery down the street and bought Kieran his favourite blueberry muffins. I'm assuming it's his favourite because he always buys them in the morning. After his client left I offered him the muffins as a peace offering, I like our peace, I don't want things to be awkward.
“What are the muffins for?” Kieran asked.
“It's a peace offering, for snapping at you.”
“Haha, you didn't have to, I said it's okay.”
“I know but I don't want us being awkward around each other.”
“Alrighty, I'm never saying no to blueberry muffins.”I have no idea why we had so many consultations today. It's 16h50 I'll be knocking off soon. I just want to take a long bath, soak myself in bubbles and drink some wine. No matter how tired I am, wine is my go to. As I was sitting waiting for my last client I realised that I made a few errors, with my two clients. They had similar names. I called them to reschedule another consultation. Unfortunately they said they couldn't meet me another day, which meant I will be knocking off a little late today.
At 17h30 everyone knocked off except Cass and Lutendo. The first client arrived around 17h50 that's when Cass left. There wasn't much to do honestly I just made a few errors here and there. The last client pitched around 18h15 and by 18h35 I was done, as I was packing up my things Lutendo walked out of his office, he was shocked that I was still at the office during that time.
“What are you still doing here Ms Ngcobo?”
Gosh! Can this man get any hotter? He had folded his sleeves and I could see some tattoos on his biceps.
“Ms Ngcobo!” Him
“Uhmm, I made an error with my other clients and they couldn't reschedule so I had to have the consultation with them now but I'm leaving now.”
“Okay, let's go then.”
He walked behind me as he walked me to my car. I felt my knees get wobbly, his cologne was still so strong. He smelled so manly.
“See you tomorrow and drive safely Ms Ngcobo.”
“You too sir.”I got into my car smiling like a little girl and played 'in my feelings by Drake' then drove home.
