Me and Zodwa talked. Like two adults. I listened to her and saw things from her view. We won't be the best of friends but we will be civil towards one another. I will never forget how she bragged about sleeping with “Themba”, knowing very well that I was with him.
*Flashback*
You know Khanyisile. Indoda you must not brag about them. They will always disappoint you.
I looked at her with confusion written on my face. Ukhuluma ngani manje Zodwa?
Zodwa cackled. How dumb can you be? I slept with Themba. That's what I'm saying.
I felt my chest tightening. I felt so betrayed. All she did was stand there and laugh. Why. Why would you do that to me? We are family.
Family yok’nuka! You knew that I liked him first but what did you do? Open those skinny legs for him the first chance you got. No wonder Zayn cheated on you!
I don't know where I got the strength but I slapped her hard. Who did she think she is to talk about Zayn?
“Ushaya mina? Woza la sfebe.” she walked towards me and I tripped her. She dived into the sand. I laughed at her and ran to my room.
“You will eventually come out!”
She was right I can't stay in here forever. Right now I needed to pee. I unlocked the door and went to the toilet outside. I passed her and her friends sitting under a tree. They were laughing but the minute they saw me. They laughed more. They laughed like hyenas!
I found her waiting for me, when I came out of the toilet. “Look at these pictures since you don't believe that I slept with him.” I didn't want to but I did. Out of curiosity. It was them. They looked so cosy and enjoyed what they did. I didn't need this. I could feel my anger consuming me. I wanted to confront him but I had to return to Johannesburg. Two weeks later...
I was back in KZN for a wedding. Themba tried getting my attention but all I saw was him and Zodwa in bed. How he could stand next to me and act like everything is okay. Had no idea.
“Baby are you sure you okay?” he asked.
“Kanti ngitheni kuwe Themba? I'm fine.” I left him there and went inside the house to help out with the dishes. I heard one of the aunts asking where Zodwa is. I went out to look for Themba but I couldn't see him. I took out my phone. There was a message from him, saying he went home. I shook my head and laughed. Maybe catching him in action is much better. I used the other gate to go to his parents house. Thank God, it was nearby. I was standing outside his room not knowing whether to knock or just barge in like an FBI agent. I knocked and was granted permission to enter. Now that's weird. I went in and he was playing video games. He also looked shocked to see me. “Ufunani la Khanyi?”
“Uh..” I nervously laughed. “To see you obviously.”
“Mhm.” he went back to his video games. I just stood there not knowing what to do. He turned and looked at me again. “Ngithe ufunani MaNgcobo?”
“Are you sleeping with Zodwa?!” I blurted it out.
He fully turned around and looked at me. “Zodwa as in umzala wakho? That Zodwa.”
I nodded. He shook his head and went back to his game.
I can't believe him. “Themba I saw the damn pictures. You and her in bed. Looking cosy. If it's not you then who?! ”I shouted.
“Manje umsindo owani? Don't I have ears?” he held his ears. “Let me see those pictures of me and Zodwa.”
I hated how calm he was. Like shouldn't he be trying to spin some lies to me. Try and convince me otherwise? I took out my phone and showed him the pictures. All of them. He laughed. Like he is genuinely laughing. I took the phone from him and looked at them. Nothing funny there.
“I feel so offended baby. You really think that's me? I assumed by now you know me.”
Okay now I was confused. I looked at the pictures again... Shit! Only now I realised that it's not him. How did I not notice this? Even the room. It was his twin, Akhile. Yes they're identical, but Themba has a scar above his bellybutton. On these pictures, there was no scar. “I feel so stupid right now.”
“You should. You should sthandwa sami.”
I went to Akhile’s room. Before I could knock I heard moaning sounds coming from there. I'll be damned. I knocked like umashonisa would, when you owe them money. The moaning, was louder. More like Zodwa was the one screaming like a goat. “Yeyi vulani hawu!” after a while the door was opened.
“Hawu. Ufunani la Khanyi?” Akhile asked with confusion. I looked at Zodwa and she had a smug look on her face. “Bitch if only you knew you have the wrong twin.” she laughed.
“What's going on here? Khanyi? Zodwa?” he looked at the both of us. Themba finally decided to join the party. “Bafo kwenzakalani manje?” he asked Themba.
“Let me enlighten you Akhile.” I saw Zodwa’s eyes leaving their sockets. Now it was my turn to smile. I explained everything to Akhile. Absolutely everything. I even showed him the pictures. I left them to argue afterwards and went home.
*End of Flashback*Present Day
Zodwa always tried to be me from when we were young. I always let it slide thinking we just being children. The older we got, she became worse. That Themba stunt was just a deal breaker! I realised that she had issues, bigger issues than me. Why she didn't trust me. No idea. We could've been the best of friends. We finally moved to our new office and I must say. It was a good move. It's not massive but it's also not small. It was perfect. I went to Rendani to show her what I had in mind for Kele’s big day.
“Ntombi yom’ Zulu. Waze wa muhle namhlanje.” she said and whistled.
“The drama in here. But hey... Your girl had to lighten up this office.” I said turning around before I sat down.
“Then you say I have drama!”
“Shut up! Let's get this over and done before Kele thinks we gossiping about her.” Rendani looked at me.
“But are we not gossiping about her?”
“I said shut up.” I took out my phone and showed her pictures.
“Wow. How did you find this place. It looks so peaceful and beautiful?”
“I'm a woman with many talents. So do you approve?”
“Yeah. It looks interesting.”
The place we were taking Kele to was more like a farm. Just a distance from the farm, there was a “wild life park”. That's what they said the name of the park was. The farm was huge. There were lots of activities that they offered. It was in North West, very hidden. I called them to make a booking hoping and praying it's not too late. Looks like my ancestors pulled through for me. I made a booking and immediately paid the deposit. North West here we come. I texted Rendani to tell her that I made the booking. We decided to have our lunch in Rendani’s car. Without the boys just us girls. I secretly looked at Kele.
“Keng Khanyisile? Do you want me to choke on my food?” ( What Khanyisile? )
“Obviously not. So it's your birthday this Friday.”
“I know that.”
I rolled my eyes. “Did I say you don't? Uyaphapha shem. Sies.”
“What Khanyi was trying to say, is that we are going to a farm in the North West on Friday. When we knockoff.”
She looked at us with confusion. “When you say ‘we’. You mean who and who exactly? What are we even going to there? I didn't know you have family there.”
“We as in everyone in this car. Take it as a birthday gift. From me and Khanyi to you.”
Only now it started clicking in her big head. “Wow. So is that why you two were meeting in secrecy? That lingerie story was a lie right?”
“Yes!” Rendani and I said in unison, with laughs in between.
“You two are stupid. What if I had plans?”
“That's obvious. You were going to cancel those plans.” I said to her with a straight face.
We finished eating and they went back to the office. I remained behind because Jas decided that was the perfect time to call. When I passed by the reception area. Charlotte, our receptionist asked me to take a delivery to Lutendo. I was sceptical at first but took it anyway. His door was slightly open. I knocked and entered. Damn he was fine! I just stood there admiring him. He had rolled the sleeves of his shirt, and unbuttoned up a few buttons.
“Is that mine Khanyisile?”
I snapped out of it. “Uhm..” I looked at the paper bag and back at him. “Oh yes, Charlotte asked me to give this to you.”
He stood up and walked to me. Lord have mercy. I licked my lips and looked at him. He looked like he could give a good fuck! I mentally gave myself a slap.
“Thank you Ms Ngcobo.”
When did he get here so quickly? “No problem sir.” I gave him his package and attempted to walk out. Instead I bumped into the door. Hit my forehead. “Ouch!”
I heard him chuckling. “Are you okay?” he turned me around and I felt like my forehead was split into two.
I squinted my eyes. “It's not funny. Not funny at all.” he held my hand and I followed him to his desk. He bended to take out a bottle of water from his mini fridge. “Nice ass.” I said with a low tone.
He shook his head. “Thanks Ms Ngcobo.”
He wasn't supposed to hear that. I nervously laughed. He stood in front of me. Really close and placed the bottle against my forehead. From how I was sitting, and him standing in front of me. I could see his body in close view. If I stretch my arm, I would touch his dick. I laughed at that thought. He looked at me with a raised brow. “What's wrong?”
“Nothing.” I quickly stood up. Thanks for the help but I have to go back to work. He nodded his head.
The minute I closed his door, I burst into a fit of laughter. I had my back against the wall trying to catch my breath. I saw people looking at me as if I had escaped from a mental institute.
I went back to my cubicle.
