In Your Dreams || Benny Weir COMPLETED

chapter nine

The four pile into Doug's truck, watching the live feed of him chasing after Sarah.

"This episode is gonna be awesome!" Benny cheers. Ethan scoffs in response, Mary brings her hand to her forehead, "this is bad!" 

"Uh, hey, let's not say things we can't take back." Rory sneers. Mary rolls her eyes as Ethan shakes his head.

"There's an audio feed." Benny says, turning the volume up. Mary leans in closer to Benny so she can see the screen, their shoulders brush for a moment, making Benny blush.

"This blood sucker is dead, again!" Doug shouts on the screen, snapping Benny out of his trance.

"Guys, we gotta do something." Ethan states, a trail of fear in his voice.

"Do you think Doug would...kill Sarah?" Benny asks, genuinely becoming worried. "No, there's no way. Right?" Mary says in a panicked tone. "Even if he doesn't, the whole world is gonna know she's a vampire. This town will be crawling with guys like Doug. Plus, spooky government scientists." Ethan says.

Mary's breath hitches at Ethan's words, and she feels her heartbeat start to quicken.

"Well what do we do? Doug's our hero, and, I don't wanna use my arcane power to rip his soul from his mortal form." Benny says in a fake threatening voice, but it sounded funny coming from him.

"Yeah, good thing your bad at magic." Rory replies. Benny shoots a glare at him.

"We need to do something." Mary says firmly, not realizing her hand had started shaking, too.

Benny looks down at her hand, "are you okay, Mary? Your hand is shaking, like a lot."

Mary looks down and quickly grabs her hand with the other one, "oh, yeah I'm fine. Just worried about Sarah." She says, focusing her attention back to the screen. Benny gives her a concerned look, but decides to let it be.

"Doug wants a show about vampires? We'll give him one."

"This is by far the weakest fight preparation in the history of showdowns." Benny complains as Mary continues to paint vampire make up on him.

"We're not gonna fight Doug. We just need to make him think he was wrong about what he saw. So, we're gonna put on a show like something out of those Dusk novels." Ethan explains.

Mary nods, turning to him and bursting out laughing at his outfit, "are you supposed to be a werewolf or a dog in a mechanic costume?"

Benny chuckles. Ethan rolls his eyes, "I'm clearly a werewolf who works as a mechanic." Mary laughs and shakes her head.

"There's Sarah." Ethan nods over to Sarah walking into the abandoned warehouse.

"When you're done, Mary, go with Benny to his position." Ethan tells her. "You got it boss." Mary replies with a nod.

Ethan walks away to tell Sarah the plan, and Mary continues with Benny's make up. Benny looks up at her, and she can't help but let out a giggle. "I look ridiculous don't I?" He asks her. Mary smiles, "nah, I think it's cute on you."

Benny grins. "Cute, huh?" He says with a wink.

Mary raises an eyebrow at him, "watch it, I have a lot of power here," she jokes. They both chuckle. "And I am...done." Mary smiles and steps back to admire her work.

"Let's do this." Benny says, giving Mary a high five.

Mary, Benny, and Rory crouch in their position behind some boxes, when they hear Doug walking in.
