"Alright, class. Now I am going to call your name and your partner's name for this pair assignments." Professor Sharon said.

I really hoped I do end up being partners with either of my friends, Kathy and Jeremy. By the way, after the confession, both of them became a couple. I felt like a third wheel sometimes. I finger crossed and prayed for the best for this group assignment, 'Please let me be in a group with someone I know. Maybe one of my course mates. Please.' I whispered to myself.

"As you all know, there are a few Electrical Engineering major students who chooses this subject as an elective. Therefore, some of you will be partner with the seniors from the Engineering department." Professor Shannon explained. I closed my eyed and prayed again, 'Please not that annoying guy. Please.'

"Amanda Lawson and Robert Harris"

"Kathy Gomez and... Jeremy Millers"

I looked up to them and whispered "how lucky". I wondered who my partner for this assignment would be.

I stood up when I heard Professor Sharon called my name.

"Alice Clarke and.... Aaron Marshall."

So...who is Aaron Marshall? My eyes began to wander around to find my partner. And it landed on the annoying guy who always bugged me.

"Yes, what do you want? I'm looking for my partner, move away. Go and find your partner." I grumbled.

"Hi. I am Aaron Marshall. A final year student from engineering department. Your handsome senior. Your partner for this group assignment. " He grinned.

"No way, no way! Why does it have to be you?" I groaned.

"Fate brings us together, my dear partner." He winked at me.

I walked away from him and went to the Professor. I took a deep breath trying to calm down, 'Maybe if I asked her politely, she might change her mind and maybe I can ask her if I could do it with Jeremy and Kathy instead?' I said myself. I smiled at the professor, clearing my throat before continuing my sentence, "Good afternoon Professor, may I ask if there is any possibilities to change partners? Please. May I change my partner, please?" I pleaded.

Professor Shannon looked at me and sighed, 'Sorry, Miss Clarke. The decision is final. Besides, this project is only for 3 months. I'm sure Mr. Marshall is a good student.' She then added, 'I heard he is a top student. Maybe this assignment can boost up your grades.' I sighed in defeat and nodded in agreement to Professor Shannon's statement.

I went back to my seat, took a glance at my friends. Both of them looked at me in pity and mouthed, 'Good luck.' I looked to my right and saw Aaron smirked at me. Without further ado, we began discussing our project.

"So... Do you know what are we supposed to do for this project?" I asked, while looking at the assignment's topic. I searched for a few topics and noted a few important keywords. I glanced at him, raising my eyebrow waiting for his response. He cleared his throat, looking nervous. He could probably sense that I am actually serious this time. He made eye contact and asked, 'I don't really know about this. Can I have your number? So that we can discuss this in more details later?'

I looked at him, and wrote down my number on a piece of paper, "Yes sure. Let's exchange numbers." I added, 'Tell me yours too. I am going to save it.' We exchanged numbers, continuing doing some research on the specific topic we required to do. It was peaceful and we did not say any word to each other. 10 minutes later, Professor Shannon said while packing up her stuffs, 'Okay class dismissed.'

"Okay see you later, stalker." He grinned, while packing up his stuffs.

"My name is Alice." I rolled my eyes.
