Nick stayed with Joe until they got to the hospital, he didn't know what to think of what happened to his brother and why he had a head injury. The girl who left seemed to rush out so he was questioning whether she had done it but the police and doctors would know more when he was assessed. Nick sighed slumping down on a chair as Joe was pushed into a room knowing that he wouldn't be allowed to follow. He decided to take the opportunity to call his mother and tell her what had happened to Joe, he knew she would worry though and he didn't like to worry his mother.
"Hello Nick how are you?" He heard as his mother picked the phone up.
"Hey mom, I've called to tell you that Joe is in the hospital." Nick explained.
"I was worried when he didn't answer his phone!" She exclaimed. "Is he okay? What's wrong?" He could hear the worry in her tone and hear shuffling around as if she was rushing around to get ready to come meet him.
"He's fine, it's nothing serious. He's just got a wound on his head and when I found him was unconscious. They are checking him over now." Nick explained reassuring his mother that Joe was okay, he would probably walk out of here with them within a couple of hours but sadly they would still have to worry about them.
"I'm on my way, text me where you are." The two of them hung up when they said goodbye to each other. Nick slid his phone back in his pocket, he then begun staring at the floor imagining what life he would have if his brother would actually let him in and tell him what's going on in his mind. They had always been close as brothers and Nick wanted that back.
"It seems as if Joe collapsed and hit his head on something, we managed to stitch the cut up before he woke up but given him some pain killers anyway. He's signed the realise papers so you can take him when he's ready." The doctor explains Denise and Nick thanking him before he walked away. Denise was about to walk through the door but Nick grabbed her hand stopping her from continuing. She turned back to her second eldest son.
"What's wrong Nick?" Denise questioned holding his hand.
"Nothing is wrong with me, it's Joe. There's something more than a head injury going on with him and I don't know what it is, a girl left his apartment but I had no idea who she was. I thought maybe she had hit him but obviously not, maybe she has something to do with it." Nick explained Denise sighing, she didn't think there was anything serious with her son but Nick seemed so convinced that there was. Maybe Joe was sick and he hadn't told them. Maybe he was having problems and didn't want to tell them but she couldn't force anything on him.
"I'll talk to him okay?" Denise reassured kissing his cheek Nick nodding his head sitting back down. Denise took in a deep breath before entering the room seeing her second eldest son sat down on the bed staring at the floor. "Hello sweetie, how you feeling?"
"Fine, can you just take me home?" Joe questioned not looking in her eye, she will admit she hasn't seen him in a while. He looked pain and she could see the pain in his eyes.
"Joe can we talk?" Denise inquired Joe shaking his head.
"I need to get home to finish grading some stuff for tomorrow. He stated beginning to leave but Denise held his hand stopping him.
"Joe you won't be going to work tomorrow, your clearly ill. Tell me what's wrong honey." She demanded softly her hand coming up stroking his cheek gently clearly seeing that he was getting frustrated by the conversation.
"She's back mom." He mumbled.
"Who's back Joe?" Denise asked calmly taking his hand again with her spare hand that wasn't caressing his cheek softly.
"Grace, she's back." He revealed able to see the shock washing over her face.
