Joe was at work the next day sorting through the essays the seniors had given him the day before, he had to get them marked soon and with his evening activities he couldn’t do them then so he often did a couple before lessons and at lunch when he didn’t have plans with Nick. Today he didn’t which was why it surprised Joe when he wondered through with two brown bags again like the day before, he was very observant on people who repeated themselves more than once.

“Stacey cancelled on me.” Nick states wonder over placing a brown bag on the desk in front of him having already made him lunch. He knew that if he didn’t Joe wouldn’t eat until dinner time not having breakfast either. It was rare Joe ate, too busy thinking about this girl he didn’t even know the name of but he didn’t want to know, his obsession would just grow stronger and he would come even more mentally unwell.

“So I’m your second choice? Gee thanks Nick.” He states as Nick pulls up a chair at the side of him so they could sit together.

“I thought you were grading them last night? So you could have come over!” Nick exclaims Joe sighing putting his pen down.

“I did some of them but then I got tired.” Joe admits taking a drink from his water bottle, Nick frowns slightly still worried about his older brother. He wasn’t the same as what he used to be, he used to be loud and goofy but now Nick could tell that there was clearly something wrong with him but no matter how much he asked Joe would say nothing and if he did it was just the excuse that he wasn’t sleeping well.

“Mom wanted me to invite you over for dinner on Saturday; she said she hasn’t seen you in a while and wanted to see how you were.” Nick explains trying to make him realise how worried his family is about him. Joe just seemed clueless on what was going on and how much he has changed since he was seventeen. Joe sighed knowing he had cancelled on his mother a lot but he should really go, his parents had been there for him a lot over the years.

“I’ll go but I’ll phone her later and tell her.” Joe explains not noticing Nick’s sigh of relief.

Demi had the afternoon off work so she could meet up with a couple of her friends she has had since she was at school. Joe knew of them too. They had been there for Demi for as long as she could remember especially helping her raise her twin boys where they could, it was hard without their father around and Demi appreciated any help she got when they were babies, it’s tough caring or two babies at the same time.

“Hi girls,” Demi greets taking a seat next to Beth sitting opposite Selena and Sara. She had a coffee in her hands placing it on the table in front of her. They all greet her back Sara being the one who started a conversation up. “They boys are doing fine; Isaac made me a birthday card yesterday thinking that my birthday was soon bless him.” Demi says the girls smiling.

“I swear your boys are the most adorable kids I’ve ever seen.” Beth exaggerates Demi smiling too taking a sip of her coffee, she was just glad they looked like her and not their father; she hoped to never see him again.

“They are growing up too fast; I can’t believe they are at kindergarten already.” Demi complains the four of them laughing. The conversation only stopped when Demi’s phone rung, she made she had it on her at all times in case something went wrong with the boys when they are at kindergarten, she would be there as soon as she could.

“Hello.” Demi says into the phone not recognising the number which was making her think it was something to do with one of her boys, the rest of the girls were quietly talking leaving Demi alone to her phone call.

“Is this Demi Lovato, mother of Jayden Lovato?” The woman speaks carrying on when Demi answered that she was. “His teacher has noticed some strange behaviour, could you come down?”
