"I mean I'd have to check with my boss but I'll give her a phone call and see." Lloyd suggests leaving the room so he could talk to his boss in private. Joe sighed not liking the idea of these two boys being alone, not knowing anyone or where they are, they had each other but he still wasn't comfortable with them being alone. Jayden pulled away from Joe looking up at him.
"Why is mommy ill?" He questioned wiping away the rest of his tears.
"She just had a little accident but don't worry, she'll be just fine." Joe reassured leaning down kissing his head gently. Jayden smiled snuggling back into him. Jayden didn't know what it was like to have a father but he was pretty sure it was something like this.
Joe carried a sleeping Isaac up the stairs as Jayden ran up just in front of him, Joe could tell he was still upset about his mom being ill and in hospital but now that both of them would be staying with him until she was better he was hoping they would cheer up a bit. He knew it was going to be tough getting them to school on time and himself, picking them up and so on but he was ready for the challenge. He was just happy they wouldn't be alone.
"This floor Jay, go down the corridor until you see the number sixteen." He encouraged making his way down the corridor as did Jayden.
"Found it!" He exclaimed taking the key from Joe opening the door.
"There you are!" He heard looking up seeing his girlfriend. "Why have you got two boys?" Joe sighed making his way into the apartment and into the spare room laying Isaac down on the bed covering his body up with the duvet before entering the living room again.
"I'll explain on the way down," Joe states switching on the TV for Jayden passing him the controls. "Watch what you want, I'm just going to get your bags." Jayden nodded his head sitting up on the couch switching the channel onto what he wanted. Joe grabbed Steph's hand leading her out of the apartment closing the door behind him.
"Joe why have you got two boys!" She demanded to know pulling her hand back.
"They're mom was in an accident and they have nowhere to go so I said I'd take them. I didn't think it was that much of a deal." Joe explained.
"Of course it is Joe! Your looking after some girl's kids!" She argues.
"She is not just some girl Steph!" Joe argued back speeding up so he was walking ahead of her rather than next to her.
"Maybe that girl should be your girlfriend then!" She shouts after him trying catch up with him but he was too fast for her. Joe just decided to ignore her making his way down the stairs two at a time until he reached the lobby. He exited the building going over to his car opening the trunk lifting out two bags placing them on the floor just before Steph came over.
"Look I can't do this now, those boys need someone to look after them and I offered. Nothing you say is going to change that." Joe spoke calmly.
"If you walk away you'll ruin your chances of us being together and the last fifteen months would be a complete waste." Joe did what he thought was best locking his car picking the bags up looking at her one last time before walking away.
"Goodbye Steph." He couldn't help but smirk when he heard her groan and storm away. He always promised himself he would never enter a relationship where he would be pushed into doing something he didn't want to do, Stephanie was one of the bossiest people he had never met. He knew he had done the right thing, she was over exaggerating.
"Joey who was that girl?" Jayden inquired as he knelt up so he could peer over the back of the couch and see Joe.
"Nobody Jay, don't worry about her." He reassured taking a seat next to him beginning to watch cartoons with him.
