Episode 31

Joe, Jayden and Isaac were all in the middle of making the home made burgers when the doorbell echoed through the apartment. Joe rinsed his hands before making his way over to the door drying them with a tea towel as he walked. He opened the door revealing a man and a woman who he had never seen in his life. It wasn't often he got visitors that weren't family so this was rare for him but he still seemed to recognise the woman.

"I think we have the wrong address, we're looking for a care home." The man spoke looking down at the piece of paper in his hands.

"There isn't a care home nearby, sorry." Joe spoke sorry that he couldn't be much help. It didn't even occur to him that he took two boys in when they should have been going to a care home until their mother was better. Jayden and Isaac where becoming part of his day to day life even though it had only been four days. It felt like much longer.

"I don't suppose you know the names Jayden and Isaac Lovato then?" The woman questions, Joe kind of wanted to lie to them and say that he hadn't got them. He's been having so much fun with them and didn't want to have to give them up but he knew that it wouldn't be the right thing.

"They are staying with me, I offered because they didn't want to go to the care home. I'm Joe." Joe introduced sticking his hand out for them to shake which they both do their hands going back down by their side.

"The same Joe as in two years ago holding a gun to our daughter's head?" Joe sighed knowing that it was going to come up at some point. He didn't really remember much of that night besides what people had told him. He knew he wouldn't do anything like it now.

"Um yeah but honestly I've changed, I went to a treatment centre and I'm better. I have a certificate to prove it." Joe reassured them quickly before they took Jayden and Isaac of him quicker than what he wanted. He wanted them to stay if he was being honest.

"We believe you but we've come to take Jay and Isaac home, take them off your hands." Dianna explained Joe holding the door open for them to enter his apartment. He knew Jayden and Isaac would love to see them again. Some family rather than him.

"I understand, we were in the middle of making dinner but there should be enough if you want to stay?" He offered.

"That would be nice." Eddie admitted but he really just wanted to see whether he was still a danger towards his family or not. Joe always knew what he did in the past couldn't leave the minds of the people closest to Demi. His family had never really forgot the man he became that night even if it was a blur to him. Everyone else seemed to remember.

"We're making burgers, they said it was something Demi used to do with them." Joe explained, he still had no idea what he was doing when he made them so left it all up to them.

Joe talked with Dianna and Eddie for a couple of minutes, just about what has happened over the past couple of days and Joe was relieved that they could finally tell Jayden and Isaac about how their mom was doing. That she would be okay in the end and they just had to hang in there until she woke up from her long sleep.

"Boys someone is here to see you." Joe announced as he stood in the doorway of the kitchen. The twin boys instantly dropped what they were doing running over to him and out the door. They then ran over to their grandparents giving both of them a hug.

"Is mommy dead?"Isaac  questioned but everyone was quick to reassure both of them that she was okay and that she would make a full recovery.

"No she isn't sweetie, she is fine but just needs some time to recover. Have you had fun with Joe the past couple of days?" Dianna Inquired.

"Yeah daddy is fun!" Jayden exclaimed then realising what he had said.
