Demi was still sat in-between Jayden and Isaac as they all watched TV. Demi wasn't interested in what was on but she just liked spending time with her boys, she would ask them questions about the show smiling when they answered her. It was nice for them to teach her something for once even if it was about a show rather than something that could help her out in life. She knew the day would come at some point where she had taught them everything that they needed to know so they could continue their life without her, she wasn't looking forward to the day where she walked into their room to see everything gone. When they moved out.
"What should we have for dinner boys?" Demi questioned breaking the silence between the three of them, she never planned meals on a weekend. She did during the week when she didn't have much time to shop or prepare anything.
"Could we have burgers please?" Jayden requested Demi looking up at the clock seeing that it was an hour before she would usually feed them.
"How about we make our own?" Demi suggested.
"How do we do that? We never done that before." Isaac questioned Demi smiling as she got up helping them off the couch after switching the TV off.
"I'll show you, go wash your hands and come into the kitchen." Demi demanded softly watching as the two boys ran into the downstairs bathroom.
"Joe stop!" Denise begged getting out of breath as she attempted to keep up with her son but she knew that he had no intension of stopping and sitting down to have a talk with her. The past couple of days have been stressful with her second eldest son and if she was being honest she had no idea what to expect from him anymore. He wasn't the person she used to know and she couldn't help but blame herself, she should have tried harder to contact him. To get him to come over for dinner more often and actually spend time with his family.
"No this is all her fault!" He screamed back.
"What is who's fault?" She questioned back as she took in a deep breath beginning to walk when he slowed down a little bit. He was getting tired himself.
"Grace's fault that I'm going insane!" he screamed back Denise's eyes widening when she saw the sun shining on something in his back pocket. A gun. She had no idea where he got that from but she knew this just got a whole lot more serious. She grabbed her mobile phone from her pocket knowing she had to tell the police whether he was her son or not. She couldn't have him harming or potentially killing someone when she could have stopped it.
She followed Joe until he was at Demi's door but she stayed at the bottom of the yard out of the way, she knew that the police were on the way and they had told her to stay well away from him but it was the hardest thing she had to do. It felt like he needed her and she couldn't do anything about it, she just wanted to hold him in her arms. She flinched slightly when he begun to bang on the door repeatedly clearly wanting to get her attention, she could hear the faint sound of police cars in the distance which brought her mind at peace a little bit. She watched Joe's hand as he came behind his back and to his pocket grabbing the gun.
"Joe where did you get the gun!" Denise couldn't help but ask, she knew the police had told her to say anything or confront him.
"Shut up!" Was all she got back. She instantly became more frightened when the door opened hoping it wasn't one of the boys but she knew that he wasn't here for them. He was here for the girl he thought was Grace. It was Demi who answered
"J-Joe." Demi stammered when all she saw was a gun pointing straight at her.
"Get out of my head!" He cried tears now mixing with the sweat that had built up on his face.
