Alicia
I came home after my shift. My phone rang as I unlocked the door.
"Hello?"
How are things going?
"They're okay. I found a job."
Doing what?
"Taking care of an elderly woman. The pay is decent."
Did you find a place?
"Yeah, I did. It's secluded, so Brett can't find me."
Janie exhaled. She's the only one with my phone number.
Alicia, I hate that you feel the need to hide.
"I know."
A roar sounded outside.
"I need to let you go."
Alicia...
I hung up on Janie before she added to the conversation. I turned as Jax peer into the cabin through the screen door. I couldn't help but smile. The screen door opened, and he strolled inside.
"You should lock your door."
"Why?"
"Because a bear might make itself at home." Jax smirked.
I laughed at his comment and shook my head. "You're something else."
Jax shrugged.
"Give me a few minutes. I need a shower."
"Take your time."
I pivoted and hurried to the bathroom.
******
JaxThe shower turned on as I removed my leather jacket and laid it over the back of a chair. I crept around the room and glanced at the mantle and walls. Alicia didn't have personal pictures hanging up. The furniture had a retro look to it.
After twenty minutes, the shower turned off.
"How's the job?"
"It's not bad!"
"Do you like it?"
Ten minutes later, the bathroom door opened as Alicia came out clothed. "Yeah, I like it." She walked into the kitchen and pulled out pans, then ingredients from the fridge.
I strolled over to the kitchen and grabbed a beer from the fridge. I drank my beer as Alicia cooked.
"I wasn't sure if you were coming over."
"Why wouldn't I?"
"I figure you would be busy."
"I can separate work from my personal life."
Alicia had her back to me. I set my beer down and crept towards her, then snaked my arms around her waist.
"Jax."
"Yeah." I moved her dampen hair from her neck, then leaned down and pressed my lips against her skin.
"If you won't help me with the cooking, then sit down." Alicia bumped me with her ass.
I chuckled and removed my arms. "You're so demanding."
"No, I'm hungry, and you're not helping."
I snickered. Alicia shot me a look.
"Okay. I'll help you cook. What do you need?"
"Can you fill a pot with water? The hamburger is almost done."
