Alicia
Jax offered to take me home. I accepted. I could pick up my car later. He helped me into his bike. I wrapped my arms around his waist. He pulled away from the bar.
We drove down the highway as the wind brushed my skin. Jax drove then pulled off onto a dirt road. We arrived at the cabin, and he helped me off the bike then dismounted it.
"I didn't take you for living in a cabin."
"I found the listing online. The owners are sweet people."
Jax looked at me.
"Would you like to come inside?" I gestured at the cabin.
"Sure."
I smiled as Jax followed me inside the cabin. I flicked a switch and set my purse on the counter. Jax checked out the cabin.
"It has a rustic feel to it but with updates."
Jax strolled towards me and stood in front of me.
"Would you like some water?"
"Water?"
"I haven't had a chance to grocery shop." I strolled over to the fridge and opened the door to reveal an empty fridge. "I wasn't expecting company."
Jax crept towards me and closed the fridge door. "Water is fine."
I smiled and grabbed two glasses from the cabinet. Jax sat down on a stool. I filled the glasses with water and brought them over to the counter. Jax took his glass.
"What brought you to Michigan?"
"How do you know I'm not from Michigan?" I sipped my water.
"What's Superman ice cream?" Jax leaned on the counter and rubbed his chin.
"It's, uh, ice cream."
Creases formed on the corner of Jax's eyes. "What else?"
"Well, it is frozen."
Jax chuckled.
"Oh, come on. I know it's ice cream."
"It's red, blue, and yellow ice cream with a distinct flavor."
"I still got the ice cream part right."
"So, where are you from?"
"California."
"What brings you across the country?"
"I needed a change of scenery." I picked up my glass and drank my water.
Jax moved from his seat and strode towards me. I stared at him, drinking my water. He removed the glass from my hand and set it on the counter. I gazed into his chestnut eyes. Then he leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. His hand caressed my cheek as he deepened the kiss. I placed my hands on his chest, feeling his muscles. He pulled back as my eyelids opened.
"I should go."
"Or you can stay."
Jax squinted his eyes.
"It's my first night here alone."
Jax gazed at me.
"You could sleep on the couch."
Jax stepped back. "No, I should go."
"Okay."
Jax leaned in and kissed me again, then left. I released a breath as the door closed.
*******
I awoke to a pounding. What in the world? I came out of the bedroom and answered the door as Jax held two coffees in his hand."It's early."
