Lola got clinging while I worked. She would show up constantly at the bar wanting my attention. I ignored her. It didn't take long before she flitted to another dick.

I didn't have the time or patience to deal with her bullshit. A hoe is a hoe. You fuck them and move on. I did.

Nova was on her knees, blowing me in the office when Richard entered. He rolled his eyes. "Are you almost finished?"

"Yeah." I shoved Nova's head deep onto my dick and shot my load. When I finished, she got up and left. I did up my pants as Richard sat down in his chair.

"Blake's club is encroaching on my territory."

"Good, then I can put his club down like a dog."

Richard's lips curled into a smile. I've been itching to put Blake's club members down. Someone killed my mother, and when I find out who, their life is over.

Each day, we took care of business. Richard moved me up the ranks to Vice President of the club. I oversaw the club when he wasn't around or busy. I didn't ask, and he didn't tell me what he did.

While becoming VP, I also became close to Richard. He earned my loyalty. Richard didn't do me dirty as most club members tried. Lars was the worst. We had our run-ins with each other. I put him down each time.

The last time, Richard stepped in.

"This is bullshit!"

"What? You run your mouth constantly. I don't tolerate members trying to take what's mine."

"That prick hasn't been part of the club long enough to earn any title, and I won't bow to him."

"Jax has no issue taking care of business. He doesn't steal from me either, unlike you."

Lars' eyes narrowed.

"You want to stay a part of this club, then get your shit straight, or you're out." Richard looked at all the club members. "That goes for all of you. I'll put a bullet in your head before I let you walk out of that door."

When Richard initiated you into his club, the only way you left was in a body bag. He demanded loyalty and respect. Some members forgot those rules and found a bullet hole in their heads.

I sat down on a barstool as Richard sat next to me. The barmaid popped open two beers and set them down in front of us.

"I don't trust Lars." I took a swig of my beer.

"He's been skimming from me for a while."

"Then why keep him around?"

"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."

Richard's logic escaped me. Lars was a walking time bomb. He had a hair-trigger temper and was sloppy.

I drank my beer. After I finished, Richard and I headed to his office as I sat on a filing cabinet. While we discussed business, Richard's phone rang. I'm not sure what was said, but Richard grabbed his gun and headed to the door.

"Where are you going?"

"I have business to take care of." Richard took out of the club like a bat out of hell.

I didn't bother to ask since it wasn't my business. I returned to the front, sat down, lit a smoke, and pulled drag.

Andre sat down next to me. The barmaid handed him a beer. "Where did Richard go?"

"He's got business to handle." I flicked my ash.

"I heard you and Lars went rounds."

"Lars likes to run his mouth." I glanced at Andre.
