Alicia

Over the next two years, I got to watch Elise's firsts. Martha and Jimmy babysat when I worked, so I didn't leave her with strangers. I started seeing more of Jax's features in her.

I hadn't spoken to Janie since the day I had arrived. I knew Jax would ask her questions, and I didn't want to put her in the middle. All I could do was raise our daughter with love and kindness. I never wanted her to fall for a bad boy and endure the same issues I did.

They say everyone loves the bad boy except for Elise. She didn't need to deal with the problems with bad boys. Plus, we could live in peace without violence.

I sat in my office.

Bane entered and plopped down on the couch. "Guess who I found?"

"Where is that whore?"

"She's hiding out in a small town called Fairbanks."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah, and she changed her name to Alana."

"Grab your gear. Jax wants to send my brother to me in a body bag. I'll return the favor."

Bane nodded. We left my office and hopped on our bikes. That whore was mine.

Dax and I drove around through different cities showing Alicia's picture to people, hoping someone recognized her. No one did.

"Man, Jax sent us on a while goose chase," Dax mentioned.

"If we don't find his old lady, he won't stop. Richard said to find her and bring her home."

We stood next to our bikes.

"Have you met these people? They look at us like we're going to rob them."

"Well, it's not far from the truth." I shrugged.

"You know what I mean. Small town America bullshit." Dax climbed onto his bike.

We headed west, stopping in Fairbanks at a local diner. Dax needed grub because he was turning into a whining little bitch. Why couldn't Arlo come with me? At least he doesn't bitch.

We entered as a bunch of old people stared at us. Dax and I glanced at each other and shrugged. I guess they had never seen bikers before.

We slid into an open booth and opened menus.

An older woman approached our table and eyed us. "Can I help you?"

I glanced at her name tag. "You Betsey?"

Dax gave me a weird look.

"Yeah."

"Cool. I wanted to make sure before I called you the wrong name."

The waitress looked at me like I was strange.

"We need two steaks, baked potatoes, and no vegetables."

Betsy wrote down our order.

"And," I dug out Alicia's picture from my back pocket and held it up to her, "we need to know if you've seen this woman."

Betsy took the picture from me and studied it. "Yep. Nice girl." She handed the photo back to me.

"Do you know where we can find her?"

"I sent her to the Swaggers to rent a place they own. I'm not sure if she's there."

"Do you have an address?"
