Jax
A few nights later, after spending time with Abby and Elise, I slipped out of bed and headed downstairs to my locked room. I pulled out my gear and leather jacket, then removed the cover from my bike. I backed it out of the garage and headed to Richard's bar.
I arrived and waited for Richard to come out. I leaned on my bike with my arms crossed. Richard came out of the bar, noticed me waiting, and strode over to me. I stood up as we faced off.
"I was wondering when you showed up," Richard said.
"You didn't think I kept tabs on this club."
Richard smirked. "I was counting on it."
I hauled off and cracked Richard in the face.
His head snapped down as he grabbed his nose and laughed. "Wrong move." He rushed me and slammed into my chest, knocking me to my back.
I flipped Richard off me. We got to our feet. I cracked my neck as we charged at each other. I slammed my fist into his face. Richard returned the favor. We went full throttle and slammed our fists into each other.
Richard didn't hold back and took me on full force. But it didn't matter because he got worse as I delivered his beat down.
After finishing, we stood and faced each other. We had blood dripping from our faces, and it looked like we had taken on Blake's crew.
I wiped my jaw with the back of my hand and dropped it.
Richard reset his nose. "Christ, Jax."
"You had it coming."
Richard gave me a knowing look.
I stepped toward Richard and faced off with him. "You're not using me as a pawn in your bullshit. I didn't start this damn war. You did."
"No, but you escalated it when you hooked up with that bitch."
That's all it took. I hauled off and slammed my fist into Richard's face. His head snapped up as blood flowed from his nose.
"Keep Alicia's name out of your mouth, or I put you down like a dog."
Richard narrowed his eyes at me.
"You come at my family and me, and I will go after what's precious to you."
Richard stared at me, knowing Rocco would pay the ultimate price for his stupidity. I climbed on my bike and drove home.
Once I got back, I covered my bike and locked my gear away. Unlike Richard, I don't toss around idle threats but follow through with my actions. I headed to the bathroom, staying quiet, so I didn't wake Elise and Abby.
After washing my face and giving myself first aid, I stripped my shirt from my body. The bathroom door opened as I heard a gasp. I turned my head to find Abby in the doorway.
Abby rushed over to me. "Oh, my God. Are you okay?" She checked out the bruises on my torso. When she touched my ribs, I hissed through my teeth. Fuck, Richard cracked a couple of ribs.
"Sit down, and I'll help you."
I shot Abby a look.
Abby looked at me and put her hands on her hips. "Sit down, Jaxon."
I squinted my eyes, then sat down on the toilet lid.
Abby checked my face. "You need stitches. Stay and don't move."
"I'm not a damn dog."
"No, but your stubbornness won't help you. Now don't move." Abby left the bedroom.
