Alicia
After a few days, I felt better to return to work. It will be a while before I drink again.
I arrived at Gertie's home and checked on her. She was still having issues with her remote control. Once I got her situated, I prepared her meal and gave her medication. Then I sat down with her, and we talked.
I filled her in about everything that had happened the past few days.
"If you want my opinion, you have a good man," Gertie said as she ate her slice of grapefruit.
"Jax is amazing." I couldn't help but beam.
"Then hold onto him. My Harold provided for us and was a good man. You don't find men like him anymore." Gertie picked up a picture frame from the table next to her chair and handed it to me.
I took it and looked at the picture of Harold dressed in a tailored suit. "Harold was quite handsome."
"Harold was a looker when we met. The girls threw themselves at him, but he only had eyes for me. I didn't understand why since I wasn't anything special. But it didn't matter. Harold would come calling and woo me with flowers."
I smiled at Gertie's recollection of Harold.
"Harold said I had distinct qualities and deserved a man to treat me well. Within a few months, we got married and started a family."
"Did you ever worry about Harold being unfaithful?"
"Never. Harold went to work and came home. When girls tried, he shut them down. He said he had someone at home and loved our little family. Your Jax sounds like my Harold."
Gertie's comment made my heart swell because she was right. I couldn't wait to marry Jax.

JaxI strolled into the club and slid onto a barstool. After putting my pack of smokes and lighter on the bar top, I pulled one from the pack and lit up.
The barmaid noticed me sitting at the bar and eyed me. She sauntered over to me and leaned on the bar top with her tits almost hanging out of her top. "What can I get you?"
"Not you and a beer."
"Are you sure?" She quirked her brow and licked her lips.
"Cherisse, grabbed two beers before I fire you," Richard said, sliding onto a stool next to me.
The barmaid rolled her eyes, grabbed two beers, and set them on the bar top. Richard shot her a look as she walked away.
"What's up with your barmaids?" I asked.
"Bitches want to hop on any raging dick." Richard shrugged and took a swig of his beer.
"You need better barmaids."
"It'll be better when Barbara returns."
"Isn't she ready to pop?"
"Yeah, and bitchy."
I scoffed.
"But she keeps the barmaids in check, so I can't complain."
"I'm getting married."
Richard lowered his beer bottle and turned to me. "What?"
"I asked Alicia to marry me, and she said yes. So, we're getting hitched." I took a drink from my beer.
"When is this happy occasion taking place?"
"This weekend. I need a few people to attend."
"Like who? You hate everyone."
