Abby

Jax got tied up with work, so I picked Elise up from school. She told me everything that happened today. I loved listening to her tell me about her day. I held her hand as we left the school and walked to the car, but we stopped.

"Hello, Abby," Jason said.

I moved Elise close to me. "What do you want, Jason?"

Jason glanced at Elise, then at me. "Well, you're a liar and stupid."

"Go away, Jason. Come on, sweetie." I tugged Elise with me as we started for the car.

Jason blocked our pathway as I tried to move around him with Elise.

"Get out of my way."

"So all that shit about infertility was bullshit. You lied to me."

"I didn't lie to you." I knitted my brows.

"She says otherwise." Jason pointed at Elise.

"Mommy, I don't like this man," Elise said.

"It's okay, baby," I reassured Elise.

Jason noticed my wedding ring. "You think you can leave me and start a new family." Jason grabbed my arm and tugged me to him.

I gritted my teeth. "Let go."

"Maybe I should change your mind. I'll start with her." Jason glanced at Elise.

Elise jutted her bottom lip and gripped my pant leg. "Mommy."

"Shut up, you little bitch!"

Elise started crying.

I shoved Jason away from me, grabbed Elise, and hurried to the car. Jason took steps toward us as I fumbled with my keys.

"Mommy!"

"It's okay, baby."

"You stupid bitch!" Jason grabbed my hair and yanked me back.

I clawed at his hands. "Let go!"

A fist connected with my face. I dropped to my knees and touched my face to see blood. Elise cried as I lifted my face to her. Then I heard a roar of a bike. My head snapped as a bike pulled up. Shit.

I climbed off the bike and stormed toward Abby and a guy. He stood over Abby as Abby was on her hands and knees.

"Abby, take care of Elise," I said.

Abby scrambled to her feet and rushed to Elise. The guy smirked as my fist threw through the air and connected with his face. He dropped to his hands and knees.

I grabbed his hair and yanked his face to mine. "You touched what was mine."

"I'll take Abby and that stupid kid." The guy smiled.

I glanced at Abby, shielding Elise's view. I slammed my fist into the guy's face again. "Come and get them, you piece of shit." I dropped his head, turned around, and walked toward Abby and Elise. "Let's go."

Abby nodded and got Elise into the car. She pulled away as I climbed on my bike and drove off.

When we got home, I dropped the kickstand and walked over to the car. Abby climbed out as I opened the car door and pulled out Elise. I carried Elise inside as Abby trailed us.

After checking out Elise to make sure she was okay, I checked on Abby. Abby was cleaning her face. I helped her and studied her face.

"I'm so sorry, Jax." Abby whimpered.
