Chapter Thirty-Three

*Third POV*

We see the headmasters and teachers, including William and Pyrrha, using the elevator. Pyrrha is nervous and confused about what's going on.

Pyrrha: Where are we going?

Ozpin: The vault under the school.

After a while the elevator stops and opens up, and they enter a large hallway that is supposed to lead to the vault. Pyrrha nervously hesitated but followed them.

Goodwitch: I'm sure you have some questions?

Pyrrhia: One or two. I still don't understand. You said I'm next in line to receive the maiden powers. What do you mean by that?

Goodwitch: The Maidens have existed for thousands of years, like in nature. The seasons change. No two summers are alike. When a maiden dies, the powers leave her body and seek out a new host. ensuring the seasons never last and that no individual can hold onto the power forever.

Pyrrha: So, how does the power choose?

Qrow: Through a series of stupid and conceited rules.

Goodwitch: QROW!

Qrow: Don't get mad at me. Because I'm right.

Goodwitch: At first the only thing that was certain was that the powers are specifically passed to young women. But as time went on, it was discovered to be much more intimate.

Pyrrha: Intimate?

William: What the hell does that mean?

Goodwitch: As we understand now, when the maiden dies. The one who's in her final thoughts is the first candidate to inherit her powers.

Qrow: Unless it's a dude or an old hag. Then the power will go to someone random. And our job gets a lot harder.

William: That's stupid. Sounds like someone is dying and wants to say a last word to their loved one and die mid-sentence and never finish.

Qrow: That's a kind way you put it.

Goodwitch: QROW!

Qrow: What, the kid's got a point.

William: Don't call me a kid.

Pyrrha: Why tell me this now? Why not wait until I graduate?

William: Because they are panicking and running out of time.

Qrow: Right, on the ball again. Soldier boy.

William: I'm not a soldier!

Qrow: I don't think you notice it's getting a lot scarier out in the world. Tensions are high. The Grimm are growing stronger and more prevalent.

William: We are in a ticking time bomb. This peace is not going to last, and after that the world are going to be at each other's necks.

Pyrrha: You're not talking about war.

Ironwood: Not a war between nations.

Qrow: We'll fill you in on the details after we know you are with us.

William: You might as well tell her now. You are given the insight that there's not just magic in the air.

Ozpin: That can wai-

William: No, enough of this dialogue, Pyrrha. Listen, there is a war, right, but it's not in public. Not yet anyway. It's what I like to call a Secret War. A Shadow War. And soon it's not going to be a secret.

Qrow: Well, that went out the window. But yes, as in right now, one of our maidens was attacked, and for the first time in history, part of her power was stolen.
