Does a promise really break
If nobody sees it fall

"What are you talking about? You wanna break Zemo outta jail?" After Bucky came back, he told us his very flawed plan. Looks like I wasn't the only one who was unsettled by that idea. "Where are we, Buck? Have you lost your mind?"

"We have no leads, no moves, nothing." The flashlights were guiding us through a dark hallway, but I could barely see over six feet on the front.

"What we have is the most dangerous men in the world behind bars." Since I wasn't considered on the tight Avengers budget, my flashlight was the cheapest one. It flickered several times before it turned off. Great.

"And we also have 8 super soldiers that are loose."

"Zemo's gonna mess with our minds. Especially you, no offense."

Bucky found the electricity panel, so he flipped a switch and we were with light again. "Offense," he pouted. They turned off their flashlights.

I rubbed my temples. "At this point, I don't know which team creates worse headaches."

Ignoring my comment, Bucky continued his ramble. "Super soldiers go against everything he believes in. He's crazy, but he still has a code."

"We've been on the wrong side of the code, and so have you. He blew up the UN, he killed King T'Chaka and framed you for it," Sam recalled.

"What?!" I yelled-whispered. I didn't know he also did that! What is wrong with this dude?

"Did you forget that? You think the Wakandans forgot about that? It's a rhetorical question. They didn't. I know why this matters to you, but it's pushing you off the deep end."

"We don't know how they're getting the serum. We don't even know how many of them there are. Let me just walk you through a hypothetical. Can I walk you through a hypothetical?"

The way he said things... he seemed so sure about his idea, like... he'd already set the plan in motion. "What did you do?" I accused.

Playing innocent, he shrugged. "I didn't do anything." When we stared intensely at him, he gave in. "The weakest point in any system isn't the software, the hardware, it's the meatware. The human element. Now, in this lockup, it's 9 to 1, prisoners to guards."

In precise detail, he explained how if a fight would go down, then protocol calls for 4 guards. When Sam asked as to why they'd fight, he reasoned that whatever the cause was, the fight would serve as a violent domino effect. And, when lockdown protocol was eventually be activated, the commotion would let an easier escape. Well, that and the activation of the fire alarm.

"I don't like how casual you're being about this," Sam responded by smiling in panic. "This is unnatural. Are youand where are we, man?"

A rustling came from one of the curtain doors. The figure of a man got smaller and smaller, revealing a guy dressed as a guard. My stomach did two flips. "Holy shit," I blurted.

Sam launched himself to the fake guard, fury consuming him. "Whoa, whoa, whoa."

Bucky worked as a shield between them. "No, listen—"

"What are you doing here?" Sam questioned. I only stood there, mentally analyzing the situation. One more criminal activity to add to my list: prison break.

"I didn't want to tell you 'cause I knew you wouldn't let this happen," Bucky argued. Yeah, no kidding!

That wasn't enough to keep him satisfied; he was still on edge. "What did you do?"
