It comes down to this
I wouldn't exist
Without you it ain't worth the grind
I'd fight for one kiss
On a night like this

Once the plan was in motion, there was no going back. We had all the cures ready, our friends waiting in line, and the Spideys preparing themselves for the ultimate multiversal battle.

"Hey," I said to my boyfriend.

"Hey."

As always, Peter and I were paired together. A cloud of hot breath escaped my lips as I exhaled. "I know it's such a bad moment to ask, but... are you okay?"

He turned his head, his laser focus on the city's night sky view moving to me. "Yeah. Like, as good as it gets given the circumstances. Why?"

"I just... this is one of our biggest battles. I mean, the one with Thanos was definitely up there. But now's at least top five. And with all of the things that have gone down just today, I wanted to check up on you."

He grabbed my hand, drawing circles in the back of it. He felt tense but, at the same time, tried his best to let it go. "As long as I have you, I'll be alright."

My cheeks warmed up at his comment. I pulled my mask down. "Then let's give that motherfucker a call."

Peter pulled out his phone, calling straight to the Daily Bugle phone line. "So, Peter Parker... What pernicious propaganda are you peddling?" the voice of J. Jonah Jameson cursed us again.

"Just the truth."

"Oh, sure," he boasted.

Knowing how ugly things have gone, we were probably being broadcasted around the world. My parents were probably seeing this... Yeah, it's too late to go back.

Peter kept talking through the video call. "Truth is... that this is all my fault. I accidentally brought those dangerous people here."

"Well, he admits it!"

"And if those people are watching... Just know that I really did try to help you. We really tried." I rattled the box containing the spell behind him, flashing the most devilish smile I could master. "We could've killed you. At any given moment, but we didn't. Because my Aunt May taught me that everyone deserves a second chance. And that's why I'm here."

"And where is here, exactly?" he inquired.

"A place that represents second chances." He moved the camera to reveal the Statue of Liberty (which was having a remodelation for Mr. America's shield to be added).

"The Statue of Liberty? Good God, folks! They're about to destroy another national landmark!" I suppressed my chuckle. I've never noticed, but I guess we do tend to gravitate to and destroy our fair share of them.

"The world, if you're watching..."

"Believe me, the world is watching."

He looked at me for reassurance, then briefly smiled. "Wish us luck. Your friendly neighborhood Spiderman and Killer Bee could really use some... Anything you want to add?"

I took a deep breath before the camera turned to me, the anger having enough time to pop. "To the people who have always believed in us, no matter how bad things ended up, thank you. This one's is for you. And to Mr. Jameson and his followers, go and fuck somebody else's life you pretentious sons of—!"

Peter ended the call immediately, unsure if he should scold me or burst out laughing. He decided to kiss me instead.

The message was more to ease me than others, but, hey, I didn't mind cursing biased news reporters on live tv.
