Running with the rats
Through the city
Makes you feel like you're
A partner in crimeI couldn't stay cooped up in my apartment forever. I had to leave eventually, whether that was for fun, food, or a breath of fresh air. Though I knew I would walk with a target on my back, I didn't expect it to be this bad.
The parking lot to my house was basically full, so I had to park in the farthest spot available. When people noticed my yellow motorcycle zooming by, I noticed through the side view mirror how vans opened their doors.
I cringed as I knew I'd have to get through them to get to my bed.
A microphone and camera were instantly shoved into my face. "Hello, (Y/n). It's Patrick Dominguez from Sapphire Reporter. We were wondering if we could do a quick interview with ya. Just five minutes. Ten at most!"
"Not interested," I answered as politely as the circumstances permitted me. It was hard keeping a nice personality when people were making assholes look like diamonds, but I'd do anything to help Peter's case.
"It's really important. I promise. If you don't mind, how is your relationship with Peter? Did he tell you he was Spiderman or did you figure it out yourself? Did it turn you on more? Make your sex life better? Actually, a more relevant question: were you dating before or after he became Spiderman?"
Oh my god! I hate these types of interviews! They don't even acknowledge me, they just wanted to know more about Peter's 'juicy' relationship so they could drag us for a random reason. I kept my eyes on where I was walking. "No comment."
"(Y/n), (Y/n), is it true that Spiderman used his arachnid powers to make him fall in love with you?"
"Are you having babies soon?" another reporter, this one with a voice recorder, casually asked. I mentally puked. What the fuck?! Is that what people are dying to know from us?
"Did you help him murder Mysterio?"
"I love you, (Y/n)!!" A little boy with his mother shouted.
"Thank you...?" I answered, but only because it was the only nice thing said to me on the whole trip to my apartment.
"She helped the murderer. Why did the cops let them free?" A guy yelled. I knew he lived on the same floor as me, so the audacity of this man is astounding.
"Do you think it's a coincidence that your father was a criminal and now you're attracted to one?" the reporter from before snarkily questioned.
That's where I couldn't take it. I turned around immediately, a billion curse words threatening to spill. My blood was boiling. "What did you just say?"
He laughed dryly as if I was the one offending him. "I mean... we just want to know if your taste in relationships is related to your daddy issues. Is it true or not?"
I saw my fists glowing, so I shoved them into my his shirt's collar. Clutching tightly the cloth permitted an improvised hideout. "I'm gonna pretend you didn't ask that 'cause I've had a long ass day and I'm not interested in drama. Okay?!"
He swallowed saliva, uttering a barely audible: "Y-yeah."
I held it even tighter. "I can't hear you... sir."
"Yes, yes. I understand. But get off me!"
"Good. Thank you," I said through chatted teeth, finally letting go. My hands were back to their normal color.
A woman with a purple suit and her cameraman strutted over the forming crowd. "Miss Lang, Georgia Reeves from the Daily Bugle. Does ignoring your crimes help you sleep at night?"
