Chapter 45

"Your hair looks good on you." Ate Celine said smiling. I gave her the most genuine smile.

"Are you in love?" She pressed further.

"I am." I uttered with so much happiness.

"Really? Who is he?" She asked excitedly. I chuckled. Nung umalis si Doc Josh dun pa akong nakapagsalita.

"I am in love with the peace I have gained. I'm in love with my life. And I'm in love with myself." I answered.

"Asar. Akala ko meron na. Anyway, yung bagong onco pedia na patient co-management ka daw. Yun daw gusto nung parent." She said. Pinuntahan lang naman namin yung room. But, it took me by surprise when I saw Vince. He's smiling from ear to ear.

"Nice seeing you again, Cerise." He said. Ate Celine was giving me a weird look. I chose to ignore it.

"Anak mo?" I managed to ask. He nodded. His four year old son smiled at me kahit wala na syang buhok at parang nanghihina sya.

"Mommy." He murmured. Napatingin lalo si ate Celine. I was shocked. I just hugged him, I think he's longing for his mother.

"How's my baby?" I asked. He looked at me and smiled. He hugged me more. Vince looked at me and smiled tenderly.

After namin magrounds sa anak ni Vince, hinila ako agad ni ate Celine sa on-call room ng pedia.

"You know him?" She asked then we sat on one resident's bed.

"Yeah. I met him like months ago." I said casually.

"Is he the one you're referring? Sya ba yung mahal mo ngayon. Because you're glowing. Ang ganda mo. Mukha kang in love na in love." She said in awe.

"Masama ba?" I asked. She was shocked for seconds.

"Hindi naman. So what does he do?" Malamyang sabi nya.

"He's a pilot. Their family owns an airline." I said. She just nodded and didn't ask any more question.

Lumabas naman sya agad at niyakap ako. Nabigla pa ako. Nakatingin pa yung nurse na dumaan. Niyaya ko lang naman sya sa canteen.

"Thanks for saying that to my kid. He calls everyone mommy lalo 'pag first time nya mameet." He uttered while eating.

"No, thank you needed. He can call me that so he won't miss her mom so much. Naaalala nya ba?" Mahinang sabi ko. He shook his head.

"He's too young to remember." He said. Kumain lang naman kami at nag-paalam na ako kasi may clinic pa ako sa SAH.

Pag-uwi ko sa bahay hindi ako pinapansin ni Paulo. Kanina ko pa sya kinakausap pero tinitignan nya lang ako. I'm asking him about the money that was transferred to my account last week. Sinabihan ba naman akong glitch lang daw yun at dapat sa joint account dapat ilalagay.

"Why are you not talking to me?" I asked. He just looked at me and turned his back on me. Patagilid na lang din akong nagbreastfeed.

The next day maaga syang nagising. He's playing with Nate. Napatingin sya nung bumangon ako at nanguha ng robe. Hindi ako nagbago ng way pantulog kahit nagbreak kami, mas sanay akong nakasleepwear lagi. Bahala syang mailang or baka wala naman na talaga.
