Since they got home from the hospital Robert fed and changed Alex ready for his bedtime. The baby was quiet since he got home wouldn't do much apart from cling to his daddy.
Robert felt bad as they didn't get to finish their talk he hoped that she understands from his point why he didn't tell her.
Once Robert was able to Alex down he went straight to a photo of him and Andy pointing at it.
Robert; "I know baby I miss mummy as well. Can you say mummy?" the little boy just stared at him
Robert laughed at how serious face he went.
Robert; "say, mummy that would make her day right now" but Alex wouldn't do it
Andy laid in her hospital bed she was just getting the fetal heartbeat dopplers put on her bump so they can track babies heartbeats and movement. She didn't want to be in hospital she wanted to be at home with Alex and Robert. The time was 7.30 pm when she had a message from Robert.
Robert; "what step have I missed. I've bathed him gave him a bottle and cuddles and Alex is still awake"
Andy laughed she had forgotten that he doesn't know she reads him little stories while they have cuddles.
Andy FaceTimed Robert
Andy; "hey I'm sorry I read him a little story while I cuddled him."She notices that Alex was holding a photo of her and him.
"Hey baby", Alex looked around the room he could hear Andy voice but he couldn't see her. Robert pointed at the tablet
Robert; "here's mommy" eventually Alex found his mummy and smiles.
Andy; "I have a little story if you lay him in your arm I'll read it."
Robert; "ok I will do it soon I'll give him a little time to see you. We both miss you and I know I didn't get to say it but I'm sorry for keeping your dads cancer from you."
Andy; "this conversation is not happening in front of Alex but I know what you did was right. But just so you know I love you both too."
Robert; "how are you have baby moved yet"
Andy; "heartbeat is still strong but she's still chilling there."
Robert; "maybe I should get you all excited and see If that helps". He said smiling.
Andy; "ring me after putting Alex to bed then and talk to me," she said smiling.
Andy read Alex peace at last.
"Mummy bear was tired daddy bear was tired and the baby was tired so they all went to bed"
"Mrs bear fell asleep. Mr Bear didn't"
"Snore went Mrs bear snore snore"
"Oh no said Mr bear I can't stand this so he got up and went to sleep in baby bears room"
"Baby bear was still awake, he was laying in bed pretending to be an aeroplane NYAAOW, NYAAOW went baby bear."
"Oh no said Mr bear I can't stand this so he got up and went into the living room"
Alex laid in Roberts's arms listening to his mommy reading.
Out of nowhere, Alex said mumm
They both couldn't believe that Alex said his first word. Right from day one of wanting Alex Robert hoped his first word would be daddy until he met andy and watch their bond and he hoped well he knew he was going to say, mummy.
Tears of joy fell down Andy's face Robert had already got it saved on his tablet.
Alex; "mumm"
Andy carried on with the story
