Robert helped Andy get her trousers on and walked down the stairs. The baby bag and Andy bag were ready in the car.
Robert; "do you think us having sex caused you to go into labour," he asked worried that it was his fault
Andy; "possibly but it felt so go though so don't blame yourself" which she knew he would do.
They let carina know that Andy was in a lot of pain but her waters haven't broken yet so maybe they'll get seeing to or be told to come back when they do.
Once at the hospital carina checked her over they were proper contractions but her waters haven't broken so she gave them an option of going home and coming back when they do break or they book her in
Andy; "know in my look it'll be hours yet before water break so we could go home"
Robert didn't like the idea he wants to closer to the hospital but he agreed. Walking down the corridor when another contraction came on
Robert; "breath through it, breath in and out" Robert helped Andy to keep calm and get through another painful contraction
She couldn't help it but the way he told her to keep doing her breathing techniques she just wanted to punch him
Andy; how about you swap places and you try breathing because it ain't fucking working for me.
They were outside for a couple of minutes when her waters broke
Andy; you have got to be kidding me pissed that her waters could have broken while she was on the maternity ward
Robert; "I could get you a wheelchair or do you want to walk back," he said with a smug smile
Andy; "I'll walk just take it just in case. Ouuuch" as another contraction came.
Robert didn't take the wheelchair he put an arm around Andy and held her hand he wanted to feel everything with her he didn't care whether squeezing his hand almost broke it
Carina; "back so soon", she smiled
Andy; "I stepped outside the main doors and pop my waters broke still wasn't finding it funny but carina, Robert and another midwife did."
Carina; "alright so let's get you ready", she said as she showed her to their room
Andy laid on the bed so the midwife could check how many centimetres dilated she was.
Midwife; "wow this is going to be a quick birth your already 8 centimetres dilated. Do you want any gas and air for the pain"-
Robert; "yes, please," he said as Andy squeezed his hand through another contraction
Andy; "no" finally answering
Robert; "you're doing great baby, I love you so much, he said as brought his face to the side of her ear."
Andy; "I love you too."
The contractions were closer together after half later the midwife came to check on her again
Midwife; "how are we getting on," she asked checking the babies heart rate on the machine still looking good.
Andy; "you tell me as I'm ready to push now"
Midwife; "alright let's check then", the midwife opened Andy's legs, "wow come and have a look daddy."
Robert wasn't allowed to see anything when Alex was born so he was excited but wary of Andy
Andy; "go, go and look" she knew he wanted to
Robert; "baby, her head I can see her head," he said as his eyes started watering. Going back to where andy was to hold her hand
The midwife got everything ready for when the baby was out "alright let's have a baby shall we, two big pushes when you feel a contraction and she'll be here."
The pain was unbearable but andy still refused any pain relief, "I can't do this she whispered I can't do it I'm too tired"
Robert; "two big pushes baby and our baby girl will be here laying on your chest so come on I'm so proud of how far you have".....
He couldn't finish his sentence as another construction came and Andy squeezed his hand
Midwife; "that's it you're doing great keep pushing down into your bottom one last time.
Does Daddy want to come and have another look at the baby's head?"
Andy; "Go get a photo, I'll look later." She said just before another contraction
Midwife; "last push and your baby's head will be out. I can't believe you're doing this without the pain relief your amazing."
Shortly after andy had another contraction and babies head was out
Midwife; "well done now just a gentle push and she'll be"
A few seconds later they heard their baby crying
midwife; "daddy do want to cut the cord"
Kissing his wife to be on the forehead he went to see his daughter and cut the cord the midwife then put the baby on Andy's bare chest. Tears of joy from andy and Robert as they watched their baby settle from crying.
Andy; "Hello baby, I'm your mummy" holding her baby daughter for the first time made her forget the pain she was in.
After ten minutes the midwife did the babies weight and checks, held her back to her parents
Her name Bella-Rose Herrera Sullivan born at 3.40 am weighed 6lb 2oz.
While mummy went for a shower daddy had extra cuddles with Bella, he fed her and put her in her clothes but he just couldn't put his new daughter down to sleep. Another piece of his heart went to his daughter.
They never warned her that the first wee you take after labour is painful. Not even a second-time mums mention it at birthing classes. Maybe she needs to write a birthing blog and put that bit in bold capital letters " beware of the first pee you have after birth" and how quickly the midwife wants you out of the bed if you had a natural birth. Andy birthing blog coming soon she thought as she stood under the shower rubbing her belly with soap it seems strange not feeling her baby move inside of her
Andy walked back into the room to find Robert snuggled with his daughter asleep in the chair she quickly took a photo and gently picked her daughter up. She couldn't believe she is here 5 weeks early and in perfect health. She puts Bella in her crib and got in her hospital bed and fell asleep.
They both woke two hours later to Bella crying for her next feed. Andy tried to latch her on her breast which she struggled a little so the nurse helped her.
Once Bella was latch on everything was a success
Proud father watched as his daughter nursed from her mother
Robert; we should tell everyone that Bella has made an early exit.
Andy; message everyone because I don't want you to leave us just yet. my Dad would want to come and meet her tell him it'll be fine too and get Ben to bring Alex, please she said smiling
Robert message everyone who needed to know and rang Ben and Pruitt
Robert rang Pruitt telling him the good news and that andy is well for him to come as see her then he rang ben
Robert; hey, don't suppose you could have Alex another could you, Andy went into labour last night and she's here
Ben; as in already born,
Robert; yes she's here I'll send you a photo of her but you are more than welcome to come to see her.
Ben; "well congratulation daddy I'll come and see you all soon and I'll bring Alex as he's shouting mummy non-stop," he said laughing
Robert; "thank you I'll see you soon"
Going back into Andy's room she was still holding Bella
Andy; "I still can't believe she's here, she's so perfect."
Robert; "she is just like her mummy," he said as he kissed her
