"Please? Just for one hour!" My best friend pleads. Alex has been best friends with me for ages, along with his twin sister Lena.

"Uh, no."

"Oh please! You need a boyfriend and those werewolves in your pack are so scrawny and nerdy and boring!" Lena exclaims.

"Shh! We're in public!" I hiss. She made an "o" with her mouth and covers it with her hand and giggles.

"Oops," she smiles apologetically. No human knew about us. My kind, werewolves. Only Lena and Alex knew, and my pack, Athena Pack, allowed it, only because my father was the Beta. He died in a fight with rogues while defending our pack. My mom was devastated because they were mates. She and my father were meant to be, and when you lose one another, you will never be the same person anymore; my mother is half of what she was.

"... tomorrow at three." Alex finishes. "Were you even listening?"

"What?" I snap back to reality. "No, sorry."

"I was saying that you need a boyfriend! You need a hot guy and to be the chill to your Netflix. Your blind date is tomorrow at three." Alex says proudly.

"Alex! Where did you find this man? On the streets?" I say sarcastically. Lena hesitates to answer. Her eyes flicker down, then she looks back up to me.

"What! You actually found him on the streets? What if he kills me?" Alex gives small chuckle.

"He's a werewolf. Part of a big pack, I'm guessing. He was muscular, sweet, and sexy," Lena replies.

"How do you know? You asked him?"

"No! God, he'd kill me if a human knew about werewolves. I was wearing my silver ring and when I shook his hand, he winced. He's a Were," Lena decides, hands on her hips.

"No, I'm only sixteen, and I don't want a boyfriend, I just want to live my life, go to college, get a job, and then get married," I finish. Alex opens his mouth, but I cut him off. "I do not believe in mates." Mates are what humans would call "soulmates". The Moon Goddess put these two people together so they can be together forever.

"Fine. But May, go back to your pack, and get a mani-pedi or whatever girls do to get ready for a date. Go on!" Alex gave me a wink, linked his arm with his sister and left the food court, with me standing in shock.

"Hey! What's his name?" Lena chuckles, and shouted back at me.

"Find out yourself!" I stood, breathing heavily in the middle of the food court, as Alex doubled over, laughing.

Lucas

My hand was still burning from that pathetic human girl's silver ring. She asked me to meet her friend on Melinna Avenue at three tomorrow. Yeah, like that was going to happen. She said she had a friend who was "hot, single and ready to mingle." I hate humans.

"Alpha Lucas, your mom has requested to speak with you," My Beta, Josh says from behind the door to the Alpha house.

"Thanks Josh," I yell back, grunting as I opened the door. I make my way to my mother's room, and knock.

"Come in sweetie," she call out. She comes over to hug me. I was a good eight inches taller than her, and I cast a shadow over her small figure.

"Oh Lucas, honey, sit down," my mother smiles, as she took a seat on her couch across from me.

"Mother, what's this about?" I ask.

"Well darling, you're twenty years old. This pack had been without a Luna for three years. You need a Luna, because my time is running out. I need to teach the future Luna her duties. You need to find one soon; I don't wish to rush you, but this pack will fall without their Luna."
