May
Slipping on a pair of heels, I look at myself in the mirror. I can do this. It's just one dinner.
Tonight, I'm talking about pack business with Lucas and his family. Yeah, I know.
Apparently, they want to know what I'll do when I'm Luna.
But I don't want to be Luna right now. I have had my mind set on Beta. Also, how can I talk to them about pack business when I still haven't chosen between Lucas and Jared?
I care about both of them, but I feel like I have to chose. They're both perfect for me. I'm supposed to chose between my two perfect matches, and then leave one of them mate less. How am I supposed to do that when I care for both of them so much? I don't love either one yet, and when I do, I'll know. I'll know who it is.
"May, you ready?" Lucas shouts up the stairs.
"Ready as I'll ever be," I mumble, and head towards the stairs. I meet Lucas's eyes and he looks amazing. Really hot too. He's wearing a suit, and it's all black, with a black tie. Nice, right? I smile, and feel my heart pound against my rib cage.
"Pup, it's just a meeting. I can hear your heart from all the way down here," Lucas chuckles.
"No, they're going to make me chose either you or Jared. I can't do that yet!" I cry out.
"Pup, I won't let them ask those questions. Also, might I add that you look ravishing," Lucas holds his elbow for me to take. I take it gratefully. Of course, I was still shorter than him, even in heels. My skirt says summer, but my sweater says winter, making it perfect for the spring. I added winged eyeliner conservatively, and making a noticeable but subtle brown and gold smokey eye. I elongated my eyelashes with mascara. I even added bronzer. Go big or go home, really.
"Thanks, but if we don't go now, we'll be late. I don't want them to think I'm slow," I tug him to the door.
"May, the restaurant is twenty minutes away. If we leave now we will be thirty minutes early. Calm down, okay?" He kisses my cheek. "You'll be fine, and I'll make sure of it."
I sigh. "I know. I just really want your parents to like me."
"They do, I promise," Lucas answers.
"How do you know?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"Well for starters, you have made me one happy man. Two, you allowed Emma some closure, and you're May. You're my mate."
"Except for the fact I was practically in depression for two months, made Emma freak out and bawl her eyes out, and that last one is not a valid reason," I point out, countering everything he said.
"May. Stop. You are perfect, and my parents love you. But to be quite honest, I don't care about the way they think, because I want to be with you." I fidget with them hem of my skirt, smiling.
"Thanks. Now let's go, I don't want to be late."

"Now May, let's talk about duties. If you do become Luna, what could you do?" Lucas's dad asks me, smiling and bringing his hands together in front of him. Swallowing down my salad, I look up.
"Well, considering what I went through, I would want to make sure everyone has a place in the pack. I would also want to help more with the rogue and hunter problems. Considering what happened with Emma, I want to ensure nothing like that happens again. I just want everyone to be safe," I conclude.
"Fantastic answer!" Lucas's dad smiles at me.
"I'm going to the bathroom, I'll be back," Lucas stands up and kisses the top of my head, making me blush under the stares of his family.
"Thank you again, for keeping me safe in your home," I thank them.
"No problem, May," Lucas's dad looks up at me and back down to his lap. He takes out his phone. "Sorry, got to get this. Hello?" He leaves the restaurant with me and his mom. Great.
"So, May, do you love my son?" She asks. I cough violently on the tea I was drinking. After I calm down, I look at her.
"Umm, I know I'm falling for him. Not exactly in love," I reply honestly.
"Oh. I hope you don't become Luna." Bitch say what?
"Excuse me?"
"Yeah, you heard me. My son deserves way better than you. You'll be putting half the pack in danger because of you and your idiotic brother. That is not how a true Luna acts. Plus the fact that you can't even decide who you want to be with is just pathetic," his mom shrugs.
"I'm sorry, am I hearing this correctly?" I scoff at her answer.
"Yes. I'm a bitch, I know. I don't want you to ruin my family with your stupid and worthless life."
"Okay, I don't know who made you the expert on my life, but let me make this very, very clear; you don't know me or my life. You don't understand that my idiotic brother with go after anyone and anything because he is a ruthless killer. I may have trust issues and a difficult time understanding love because the one person who should love me the most would be my brother. He lied to me and deceived me. So before you say anything, think about that first."
