Lucas

Something is wrong.

My wolf has been on edge for the last ten minutes, and I have a weird feeling about this. For a second, I almost feel someone chanting my name and something else, and it sounds like May.

I run out the door.

Jared

Something is very wrong.

I feel nervous, almost worried about someone special. I obviously have no family, they left for a different pack. I feel like its May, and she's chanting my name over and over again. I grab my car keys and run out of my cabin, hopping into my car.

I drive as fast as I can until I reach the book store, and a very expensive car is nearby. Lucas looks at me with concern.

"Why are you here?"

"I sensed she was in danger," I whisper, darting my eyes to the window of the bookstore.

"Me too," he whispers back. We both head to the door, hesitantly reaching for it.

May

No.

Lucas! Jared! Help! Lucas, Jared, Lucas, Jared, Lucas, Jared, Lucas, Jared.

No, no, no!

This is not happening. Derek is here and will kill me! I already know I can kick his ass, but he has silver bullets.

Laced with wolfsbane.

Who the hell does that? That is just plain cruel.

"Now, May, I don't want to hurt your friends, but you, I don't have a problem with," he sneers. James looks at me, eyebrows raised.

"Sir, we have a very versatile collection of classic books," I speak loudly. "They are behind the counter, would you like me to show you?" Derek smiles evilly, his cunning eyes burning into mine. James turns back to reading. I let out a shaky breath.

Suddenly the door bursts open, revealing my mate.

Correction.

Mates. I smile, they heard me calling them.

"Stay away from her!" Jared booms.

"If you lay one finger on her I will rip you apart," Lucas growls. I look to my right and see that James and Dylan are being held by the throat with silver knifes pressed up against their necks. I let out a small gasp.

"Found yourself a mate? And a friend that's your own species? Good for you May, I'm so proud of you little sister," Derek pats my head with a smile. I flinch away from him and his smile drops.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk," he clicks his tongue, "you don't have to be afraid of your dear brother." He grabs my wrist and turns me around so I'm facing Jared and Lucas. He has an arm around my waist and I feel cool metal burning my throat. I let out a strangled scream.

"Do you remember this knife? I still kept it after all these years so I can kill you with the same knife I had planned three years ago," he whispers in my ear.

Jared and Lucas growl. I look at them and then close my eyes, willing myself not to cry. I am not weak.

I am not weak.

On impulse, I don't even think my decision through. I bring my leg up in between Derek's legs, and he slices my neck a little as the knife drops. Derek groans, and drops as I feel the silver entering my bloodstream. My blood drips down my throat and the two men holding my guards are being attacked my my mates. I start to go help them, but Derek pulls me back using my sweater. I yelp and jerk my elbow back, wincing as it makes contact with his nose, hearing the crack.

"Max, get to the bookstore right now!" I mind link my brother. I don't even bother waiting in on the mind link to hear an answer. Derek chuckles.

"You can't beat me. You're simply a little girl," he smirks.

That's it. I lurch forward, punching him. I turn on my heel, letting my leg kick him in the gut. He staggers backwards, and starts coughing. I settle for a roundhouse kick, sending him flying. I walk towards him and grab a fistful of his shirt. I feel him punching me, and it doesn't work. He kicks my shins, and I scream in pain. He knows about my shin splints, and is using them to his advantage. I punch his throat and he coughs violently. Derek gives up, sliding down to the floor.

"Well done, May. I guess you aren't so weak after all," he chokes out in between coughs.

"Awe thanks, Derek. I'll visit you everyday in your cell, okay?" I say with mock sincerity. Derek laughs, and he closes his eyes, too weak to stay conscious. I sigh, feeling the silver in me slowing me down. I look over to Lucas and Jared, and they're panting over Derek's men's bodies. My eyes close and I flutter them open.

"May!" Lucas yells and rushes to my aid before I collapse. Another warm hand is pressed against my bleeding neck.

"She has too much silver in her cut," Lucas says with panic. He's still here? He's still worried about me even though I said I hated him?

"Here," Jared rushes back over to me. I hear the unscrewing of a cap.

"May, open your eyes for me," I open them at the sound of the gentle, caring voice.

"Lucas," I gasp out. "Jared."

"I'm going to put an antidote in your cut, okay? It will hurt, but all you need to focus on is staying awake. Everyone needs you, okay?" Lucas asks of me.

"I can't, I can't stay awake," I admit. Jared clutches my hand.

"Squeeze my hand when you feel the pain. It's okay," he whispers. I feel the cold liquid enter my cut and I yelp at the coldness. After a few seconds, I feel a burning. I squeeze Jared's hand.

It gets intense, and burns more than silver. I scream and thrash, crying out. I have a death grip on Jared's hand.

"Make it stop! Lucas, Jared, make it stop, it burns!" I sob. The door opens and a gust of wind hits me full force, easing the burning a little.

"Derek," Max growls.

"See you later, Max. And May, I'm coming back for you. You can count on it," and then, Derek and his men are gone. I keep screaming, the door closed.

"Max, it burns!" I flail my arms, trying to reach him.

"What happened?" Max growls at Lucas and Jared.

"Anti-silver," Lucas cradles my head.

"Help," I breathe out.

Then, the pain stops. I dulls to a throb, and I feel a few tears roll down my cheeks.

"I-I think it's over," Jared says hesitantly. I nod my head.

"It hurt. It's gone now," I croak.

"Come on. Let's get you home."

Sooo hi:)
That was an extremely intense chapter, huh?
