May- One Year Later
"May, my love. You are the best thing that has happened to me in my entire life. I love you so much. You have taught me how to love and to fight for the ones I love. Even though Derek tried to kill you and we found out my mom betrayed us, you still were brave and I stood by your side, just like I want to do forever. May Laurent, will you marry me?" He had asked, the rose gold ring glimmering in the sunlight. I gasped, tears welling up in my eyes. Words unable to come out of my mouth, I nodded and squeled.
Smiling at the memory while examining my ring, I sigh in the silence surrounding me.
Lucas and I are due to get married in a month, and I couldn't be happier. I know I was making him wait too long, but I wanted to mate once we we were married. Lucas has been patient with me, understanding, and surprisingly sympathetic about Jared and the months after the war.
I slowly open the door to the basement, seeing the creaky old staircase leading down to remembrance room.
Flowers in hand, I place the carnations beside Jared's picture of us on our first date, eating ice cream and walking down the road.
Then a picture of him and his mother and father when he was three, smiling a toothy smile and his fingers in the shape of a peace sign.
Then, a picture of us sleeping on the night he bought me a book and we watched movies.
I still love him and Lucas knows it. He respects it. Even though Jared loved me more than I could love him, he didn't care and still gave up his life for me.
"I love you Jared. I'm getting married in a month. We talked about kids too. We decided two months after the marriage. I wanted to wait and he agreed. Isn't that nice? I know you're gone, but Lucas agreed for you to be the Godfather of our children. Do you want to be the Godfather? Thanks, Jared. I'll see you tomorrow," I blow a kiss to his picture and turn around, heading up the stairs to where Lucas was waiting for me.
"Hey Pup. Talk to him?" He asks, kissing my forehead.
"Yeah. Thanks Lu," I breathe in his soothing scent and smile but at him.
"I can't wait to get married," I sigh into his shoulder.
"Why wait?"
"What?" I ask in surprise.
"With just our family and close friends we could get married, and then in a month we could have a little celebration with the pack. What do you say?" He looks hopefully at me. I smile.
"Yes. Yes!" I laugh, kissing him.
"Tomorrow, so everyone can clear their schedules. You pick your dress up from the shop and I'll call everyone and tell them when to come, okay?" I nod, grinning wider than I ever have in my life.
"Okay, I'll see you soon! I love you!" I sequel, giving him a peck on the lips and running to my room. I could hear his faint laughter echo through the house.
Dialing the number I knew by heart, she picked up.
"Hello?"
"Maya? Can you get Lena, Alex and Chloe and bring them to the bridal shop?"
Wedding Day
Flowers elegantly lined the walkway and candles illuminated the garden, as Lucas stood patiently for me with a big smile on his face.
I turn up to look at my brother, letting out a breath.
"Thank you so much Max," I say. He turns me around and gently holds onto my shoulders.
"Dad isn't here, and I will do anything for you. You need someone to walk you down the isle. Thank you for choosing me. Are you ready?" He asks quietly.
"Yes."
I step forward, my elbow hooked with Max's and my train following after me. Max led me towards Lucas, guiding me towards my future.
After what felt like eternity, we locked eyes and the whole world seemed to stop. It was just us against the world and no one could hold us back.
"I love you and I know I've said that a million times, but it's true. You make me feel complete and feel like I will always belong. It always felt that way.
"The moment I saw you that day on Melinna Avenue, I just knew. You looked so beautiful and innocent and like you were made for me. Because you are. And when Jared and I were fighting, the only thing on my mind was that I couldn't give you up even though I hadn't had a conversation with you.
"Then as we went on dates, I realized how smart and kind and amazing you are. You were the first time for me to feel like I was as emotionally and mentally attracted to as I was physically and for me, that was a first. I was able to open up to you, be vulnerable.
"But when I thought I had lost you that night in the bookstore, God, I was devastated and couldn't think. I didn't know I could live without you. I can't. That is why I'll say 'I do' without a second thought. I do," Lucas finishes, looking at me with so much love. I sniffle, chuckling as I take a deep breath.
"I don't know where to begin. Gosh, so much has happened. There is nothing more I want more in the world to be with you and start a family with with you. You are so kind, understanding, strong, brave and the one I love the most, vulnerable. You don't have to be so tough around me because I love you and you're able to be yourself and that is amazing.
"When you proposed, all I could think was yes, but I couldn't speak it aloud. That how happy I was and more. You give me happiness and are there for me when I need you. You were made for me. You are made for me. So I indubitably say, I do."
AHH IT'S OVER FOREVER IT'S ACTUALLY OVER!!!
Thank you so much for supporting me throughout this whole process and for waiting for the updates. You are amazing!**Edited
