May
Jared and I break apart, and I blush furiously.
"So, where are we going?" I giggle. He looks at me, and smiles.
"That, is a surprise," he puts his arm around my waist, and guides me to his car. He opens the door for me, and gets in the driver side. "Did I tell you how wonderful you look right now?"I smile and laugh.
"Maybe once or twice."
"Well, you do. What did Lucas want anyways?" He asks, curious.
"Uh," I start. "Nothing important."
"He asked you on a date, didn't he?" Crap.
"Well, like I said, it doesn't matter." I reply.
"I don't really care, I agreed to this, so I might as well get used to it now," he says.
"Okay, maybe he did. But I don't want to talk about Lucas. We're on date, Jared and May," I state. Frowning, I think about why he would want to talk about Lucas on our date. I get it that he could get jealous, but I don't want to talk about someone else on our date.
"Sorry. I just can't really help myself," he chuckles lowly.
"I get it." Silence fills the car. After a few minutes, we arrive at a park with a nice little pond. Little kids, which I assume that are werewolves, are playing a very serious game of tag, and are running with inhuman speed. Like I said, probably werewolves.
"Well, here we are. I know it's nothing too fancy, but I have more in store. We can go sit down in the park for a little bit."
"Alright," I nod, and get out of the car. We walk around to the car to the park, settling in a couple of picnic chairs. Jared puts his arm around my shoulders and I snuggle closer to him, resting my head on his shoulder.
"You know, I like this kind of date. It's nice and cute," I comment, lifting my eyes to meet his.
"Good. I like it too," he kisses me, slowly at first, then leans forward, deepening it. He opens his mouth as I do, slightly.
"Ewwww!" I hear a squeal, and I pull back, laughing. I know I'm blushing and am as red as a beet, but hey, who wouldn't? One kid is pointing at us, shouting, "they're kissing! Gross!" He comes up to us, and asks us a question.
"Is she your girlfriend?"
"I'm her mate," Jared smiles at the kid.
"Wow! Doesn't she have cooties?"
"No, I don't," I huffed out.
"Oh. Will I be in love with my mate?" He looks up at us with huge eyes.
"Of course, Buddy." Jared looks at me with a smile in his eyes. "You might look into her eyes, and think you really like her. Maybe even love her." And then I melt into his arms.
"Hey!" I squeal. Laughing, Jared licks the ice cream off my nose. We've been walking downtown for about thirty minutes, just talking and laughing. We ate a nice dinner, nothing too fancy. I look up at him, even though I'm wearing killer heels. Speaking of which, they are cutting circulation from my foot. I slip them off with my right hand, balancing my ice cream with my left. Jared takes my ice cream, licking it.
"Gross, how can you eat cookie dough? That's salmonella waiting to happen," he points out.
"Then stop eating my ice cream and hold my heels!" I exclaim.
"Okay," he takes them from my and hands back my ice cream. "Woah, how do you manage to walk in these? They're so tall!"
"Not really. I own a much taller pair..."
"No way!"
"Yup. I bet I'd be as tall as you!" I smile.
"Nope, I am not letting that happen," he picks me up and twirls me around, as I giggle. I giggle. This boy will be the death of me, trust me. He sets me down gently, kissing me on the way down. I open my mouth slightly, tracing my tongue along his lower lip, teasing him.
"May," Jared groans.
"Yes, Jared?" I look up at him innocently. "What did I do to make you so upset?"
"May. You know what you did," he gives me a pointed glare. "And I'm not upset, I'd just rather do this when we aren't in the middle of a downtown road." I laugh, and lean into Jared.
"C'mon. It's already 11:00. Your brother will kill me if you don't get home by midnight."
"Alright," I say, and fish my phone from my clutch. "Oh shit, Max called me twenty-seven times!"
"Wow. Am I in trouble?" Jared asks.
"Umm... probably. Hello? Max?" I ask Max on the phone.
"Why haven't you been answering my calls? I thought, God, I thought Derek might have done something," Max gasps out. I stop.
"What? Max, Derek hasn't been seen around here in how long, three years? It's fine," I assure him. Silence fills the other line. "What? Max?" I look at Jared who is looking at me with concern and sympathy.
"May, Derek was seen by pack patrols yesterday."
Sorry for the cliffhanger... who do you think Derek is?
