Sky's POV
Two weeks have already passed and my gunshot wound on my left shoulder is almost healed. Mom requested me to rest for one more week but I refused because it's only making me remember Violet's betrayal.
Dad on the other hand approved my request to resume work even though it's against his will. He knows that I will not stop pestering him so he doesn't have a choice but to agree.
I arrived at the headquarters by nine o'clock in the morning and I'm immediately welcomed by warm greetings as soon as I entered. All praises are on me because we succeeded in seizing the Triad's shipment, and we now have solid evidence that Argus Zaldivar is the real leader of the Triad.
"I'm so glad you're back Captain, I missed you," George said ecstatically after giving me a tight hug.
"It's not like I went on a long vacation, stop the drama please" I rebuked him but he just laughed it off.
"What's the status of Argus' case?" I inquired as soon as I sat on my chair.
"We suspect that he immediately left L.A the same day we raided the warehouse." He then gave me the report for me to review later.
"As we have informed you before, their elite team managed to escape, and we only arrested a small number of members because most of them died" I didn't respond. After all, I was already expecting that.
"By the way, what happened between you and Lady Mystique that time? The door in the administration room is locked and we found you there unconscious with a gunshot" Luis asked curiously.
I opened my mouth to start to explain, but I contemplated if I'm going to tell them the truth or not. I chose the latter one after a moment.
"She's too strong and she defeated me. I'm surprised though that she lets me live after our fight because I made sure to put up a tough fight"
"Then maybe my assumptions are right! she has a crush on you" George teased me but I glared at him to shut him up.
The pain that I felt that time remains the same until now. I never had the chance to cry for it because I am always with mom and I don't want her to worry more. Until now it feels unreal that Violet and Illiana are the same. I'm such a fool to not notice even a single hint of similarity between them.
"Did Violet contact you? Our raid is all over the news and I'm sure that she saw it. I tried to call her local number but it was turned off" Luis interjected.
She won't answer you because she's the f*cking enemy! I replied mentally.
"She will not come back here anymore so I will appreciate it if you will not talk about her," I said dismissively.
"What do you mean? Did you two break up?" George asked with a concerned expression on his face.
"Yeah, and I told her to not come back here. It's better that way since we didn't manage to capture Lady Mystique or Argus. I'm sure they will retaliate after some time" I explained before checking the pile of papers on my table.
They gave me a confused look but they did not probe more because my expression suddenly turned dim. I hate hearing Violet's name because it's not real.
I opened my pc and I started reviewing all the details that I gathered about her when she first joined our team. I didn't like her the moment I saw her and I should have listened to my gut that time.
The first similarity that I found between them is that both their mother died when they were fourteen years old. I slapped my forehead in disappointment with myself.
