Sky's POV

"Sky darling, do you already have a dress to wear in Nicole's wedding?" Mom inquired while we're eating dinner in the garden. The wedding is in two days now and I haven't decided on what to wear yet.

Dad and Michael didn't join us because they went to General Steinfield's 50th birthday. It took me some time to respond because I got busy finishing my corn soup. It's my favourite.

"Nah, I won't wear a dress. I'll probably just wear a black and white suit" I blandly said.

"You should look presentable darling, I'll buy you a dress" she insisted but I shook my head in objection.

"It's just a waste of money" I said before I started eating my salad.

"Are you being like that because it's Nicole's wedding?" She asked suspiciously.

My parents know that Nicole is my ex because they are a family friend. Nicole doesn't keep secrets from her parents and she's very open about our relationship when we're still together.

"Of course not, I'm happy for her"

"Then you should wear a dress" I rolled my eyes at her because of her annoying persistence.

"Just let me wear what I want mom. I might leave after the wedding" she frowned at me.

"Oh, what a waste. I heard the chef that will prepare the food for the reception is Gerard Browning" she said upset.

Gerard is a well-known chef for socialite weddings, and it's very hard to book him because he's really in demand. I tasted a few of his creations and I must say that he's one of the best. Too bad that he doesn't have a restaurant. I would certainly bring Violet there.

I smiled when an idea came up.

"Mom, can you do me a favour?" I asked sweetly, which she finds suspicious.

"I don't like that kind of smile of yours darling" She said while shaking her head.

"Isn't the date of Nicole's wedding your mah-jong day?" Her eyes widen when she realized.

It's very important to her because she gets to bond with her friends and gossip about people that they don't like and current events.

"Oh yes, but I can't use that as an excuse to not go to the wedding, Nicole's mom personally invited me"

"I can help you with that, but I want you to help me as well" I suggested with a sly grin.

"It depends if I can do it"

"It's very easy mom, you'll just have to not let Michael attend the wedding"

"But he has a date— Oh darling, you want to be Violet's date!" she mused while shaking her head. I just shrugged my shoulders in response before I continued eating.

"I can't believe you'll do that to your brother, but that's fine since I really want to play mah-jong with my friends" she added.

"Thanks mom" I said before leaning closer to give her a kiss on her right cheek.

"So what do I need to do?"

"Don't turn on the AC the night before the wedding and pretend that you have a cold and flu the next morning. I'm sure Michael will be worried, then you will ask him to stay with you" Michael is staying in our parent's house now because his house is under renovation.

"But how can I play mah-jong with that tactic? I'm sure Michael won't allow me" she asked frowning.

"Nicole's wedding will happen in the morning, so you can tell him that you're already okay by afternoon. Make sure to tell your friends to come here at exactly by 1 o'clock so that you can play a lot of rounds" her eyes brighten in excitement.
