Will woke up to the phone ringing, no one else in the house was awake so he begrudgingly decided to answer it. He rubbed his eyes as he picked up.

"Hopper-Byers Residence." He said half-awake.

"Will! Just the person I wanted to talk to. It's Lucas." Lucas said. Will opened his eyes a bit.

"Oh, hi. What's up?" He said a bit less tired.

"So, basically, I had a question for you because it's kind of been bugging me a bit." Lucas said. Will leaned on the wall next to the phone.

"Sure what is it?" Will asked.

"Do you.. do you like Max? Because you've been hanging out with her a lot more lately." Lucas started. Will smirked as he waited for Lucas to stop rambling. "I mean I wouldn't be mad, Max is.. gorgeous. But I was just wondering because.. you know."

"I assure you that you're wrong." Will replied, "She and El are just fun to hang out with that's all."

"So.. so you don't like her?" Lucas said in a relieved voice.

"Nope. I have no intention of stealing any of my friend's girlfriends." Will responded. Lucas chuckled.

"That's a relief. Not that I'd be mad, or.. it's just that you're a good friend Will." Lucas said, "And I know we don't talk as much because of the girls, and I just want to let you know that I'm always here for you. No matter what."

"Thanks, Lucas. Same to you." Will said.

"Well uh.. I gotta get going. If I don't help Erica with the laundry she'll kill me." Lucas responded.

"Bye." Will said.

"Bye." Lucas responded before hanging up. Will leaned on the wall before laughing a bit. Will went back to his room and laid back down. As soon as his head hit the pillow, the phone rang. Will sighed.

"Again?!" He said annoyed as he got up. He stomped to the phone and answered it. "What?" He said annoyed.

"Jeez, bad night?" A voice said from the phone. Will's heart dropped.

"M-Mike?" He said. "Oh God, I'm sorry. It's just that the phone just rang and as soon as I left it rung again."

"You don't have to apologize, I was joking." Mike said.

"Oh, well why'd you call?" Will asked.

"Just wanted to say hi, I mean we haven't really talked since your birthday.. almost six days ago." Mike replied.

"Oh, yeah.. sorry about that. I was helping El pick out outfits with Max." Will started, "You know how she is."

"Yeah. I have been noticing you've been spending more time with El and Max, what's up with that?" Mike asked.

"They're just.. fun to hang out with." Will replied. He heard a sigh over the phone.

"Yeah.. I guess." Mike started, "Anyways, don't forget, party tomorrow."

"Got it. Bye." Will said, hanging up the phone before Mike could say anything else. He went back upstairs and brushed his teeth, before going back downstairs. He saw Hopper sitting in the dining room, but before he could turn around and leave, Hopper spotted him.

"Hey, kid! You have breakfast yet?" He said. Will turned around and shook his head. "Come join me. I made toast."

"That's okay." Will said.

"No seriously." Hopper responded as he tapped the seat across from him. Will sat down as Hopper pushed a plate towards him. "So.. um.. how'd you sleep?"

"Good? I guess?" Will replied.

"Good. Um.. I actually wanted to have a talk to you about something.." Hopper started, "Your mom.. told me about your.. past parental figure.. and I know we don't have the closest.. bond.. but uh, I just wanted to tell you that.. I'll never be like that."

"Thanks." Will responded. Hopper gave a slight smile.

"I know that people around your age have feelings that.. they don't really know how to express. And I know that can be hard.." Hopper started, "Look what I'm trying to say is.. be yourself.. and if anyone has a problem with you being yourself just.. let me know."

"Thank you, I appreciate it." Will responded.

"You're welcome." Hopper started, "Now eat that before your mother comes out here and complains because your food is getting cold."

"Okay." Will said with a laugh. He ate his toast and went back to his room. Hopper was right, they didn't have a close bond. El and Joyce had gotten pretty close but they had gotten no where. I guess Will wasn't used to having a good male parental figure in his life, he hadn't had that since Bob died. He knew Hopper was trying though, so maybe he could try too.
