When Aldric came home with tears in his eyes, wanting to discuss everything with his wife he didn't see her in their room.
All he wanted was to talk to his wife and know whether it all true or not. He wanted it just to be a nightmare, nothing more.
Instead, she had gone upstairs to Esmeralda's room and spent the night there.
Estella and Esmeralda wanted Raiden to stay over too, but he refused, saying that his uncle and aunt might get suspicious due to his absence.
Aldric felt heartbroken. His pain was excruciating. No matter how many times he tried to convince himself otherwise, he knew it was all true.
He had slept alone and had cried himself to sleep.

"Mama, what do you mean 'Go to Raiden's house'?" Esmeralda looked at her mother in disbelief.
"Esme, things aren't gonna be easy for a while. You are just a child, okay? All the blame, all the anger will be thrown on me. I have to handle Aldric but it will be difficult with you here. So that's why I'm telling you to go to Raiden's house and I'll call you later on and then you can come back. Stay with him and console him. My poor child had no one to hold him last night."
Estella kissed Esmeralda's forehead and she walked to his house, worrying about what might happen back home.
Estella smiled sadly and walked inside. Aldric wasn't there, much to her relief.
Although it was Sunday, Esmeralda still made chocolates and mini cakes. One of her customers had asked her for Oreo mini cakes.
Estella went to the kitchen and took out the ingredients and materials required.
A bowl, numerous Oreos, milk, sugar, chocolate, heavy cream, baking soda, baking powder, oil, flour and vanilla essence.
The clinking of the utensils made Aldric realise that she was awake and in the kitchen, he didn't want to talk to her yet.
He wasn't ready.
Estella engaged herself in the cake for forty-five minutes. When the cakes were finally done she put them in the fridge to cool down. Then she turned to see her husband, his eyes moist. She sighed before taking a few cautious, slow steps towards him.
"Aldric."
The moment his name escaped her lips Aldric burst into tears and hugged his wife.
She wrapped her hands around his neck and hugged him back. Aldric broke the hug, cupped her cheeks and looked at her.
Tears were streaming down his eyes. He was so angry at her but somehow could do nothing except hug her.
"Aldric I'm sorry." Estella whispered, almost crying.
Aldric suddenly let go of her, not able to understand his emotions and turned away. Panic-stricken, Estella grabbed his arm to stop him.
"Leave me alone Estella."
"Aldric please listen to me. I'm not behind all of this."
But Aldric paid no heed to her and yanked his arm from her grip and began walking away.
He walked no more than two steps when he felt the same whip coiled around his hand that he had felt the previous night.
He looked at Estella, his eyes blazing with fury making his wife whimper in fear.
Aldric's eyes softened a bit hearing his wife whimper. He never wanted his beloved to be afraid of him.
"Aldric just hear me out. There is a reason behind it." Estella pleaded, tugging at her whip making him stumble towards her.
"Fine," he said through gritted teeth and sat on the chair and signalled with his eyes to Estella to sit on the chair as well.
Estella loosened the grip of her whip on his arm and the whip coiled itself around her wrist in a quick and fast, almost snake-like motion.
When Estella sat down Aldric realized that it wasn't a whip, but a dark blue, snake-like bracelet on her right wrist.
It had a long length too. He had never noticed it before.
"Aldric I know what you are feeling right now but trust me, Esmeralda and I have been through things a lot worse and we understand. But it doesn't mean you or your feelings don't matter to us. It's just that I didn't want to be a part of this and neither did Esmeralda."
"A part of what?"
''I-I can't tell you about it. Just please trust me. I love you, please. I never wanted to harm you. Please. '' Estella begged him.
It hurt Aldric to see his wife beg in front of him.
''You were plotting against me this whole time. Sending our daughter and son away. For what? To kill me?''
''What!? No! Aldric, are you crazy? I said-
''Why would you do it, Estella? I trusted you and loved you and this is what you do?''
''Just listen to me-
"You backstabbed me. I never expected this from you.''
''ALDRIC GODDAMNIT. IT WAS HIM!''
A deafening silence was heard in the room. A tear slipped down her eye as she finally calmed down, realising what she just said.
She stuttered, trying to explain what she just said. But nothing came out when she saw his face which held a knowing look.
''You- you did it on purpose.'' she whispered.
His expression and lack of any words gave it away. It really hurt to see her like this, helpless and angry.
''Bloody hell. Why the fuck would you do that?'' she raged.
''Tell me who it is?'' he asked, much to her discomfort.
She realised that lying was gonna be useless and hesitantly told him the truth.
"He was the one who started this. He wanted to make an army of villains. He spent years and years, making chemicals that could alter DNA and provide his army with powers. He tested them on himself first. One day he tested a very powerful chemical on himself but his fragile, old and aging body couldn't take it and I don't know what had happened but he told me that he couldn't work with his condition like that.
He asked me to take command of his league, Dark Pearl. Of course, I denied it. But he threatened me. He threatened to kill Esmeralda and you. So I had no other option but to do as he said. He gave me training for three years. He taught me various types of combat skills, martial arts and even acrobatics.
When he realized that he still didn't have enough people in his army he began taking teenagers, saying young people are stronger. If they refused he gave them the same threat he gave me and this had been continuing for a long time. What did you expect me and Esmeralda to do? Let you die? Of course not. So we worked for him. We had no option."
"Who is this man you are talking about?" Aldric asked, his voice soft and caring.
"I am not allowed to tell his name." Estella sniffed and buried her face in her hands.
Aldric got up and kissed his wife on the forehead, "I love you, Estella. I really do. I'm sorry.''

A while later the couple sat down on the porch peacefully, drinking Estella' favourite hot chocolate.
What happened was done. Aldric only wanted to take away her stress for a while.
