"Raiden can't come with us? What do you mean?"
"Esme he already has a tux, he doesn't have to buy or rent it. He doesn't have to come. Besides what will he do when you will be busy trying out gowns? He'll get bored." Estella told her daughter.
"Fine fine." Esmeralda huffed, putting on her shoes.
Estella sat in the car while Esmeralda was busy tying her shoelaces.
"Hurry Esme."
Esmeralda ran towards the car and sat in, putting on the seat belt.
The autumn breeze hit her face making her long hair flow gently. She tied her hair in a ponytail and then turned and twisted it into a messy bun.
It wasn't a perfect messy bun like the ones models had.
All she could think of was getting a really pretty gown for herself, hoping that Andres would at least notice her for a few seconds.
Nemesis or not, a crush is a crush. That can't change for Esmeralda.
"Mama, can I say something?" Esmeralda hesitated, wanting to talk about her feelings for Andres.
Normally Estella would look ahead at the road and answer her questions. But sensing the hesitation and slight fear she glanced at her daughter for a second.
"Yes, Tinker Bell."
"I like Andres."
Estella chuckled slightly and seeing the confusion on her face she said, "I know. I know you have a thing for him. Ray told me about it. Also, I have seen you look at him."
Esmeralda felt her cheeks heat up a bit and she smiled shyly. But her smile dropped instantly, "He hates me. He knows my true identity."
"Esme, he knows your true identity, not your true self."
Okay, that was deep. My true identity isn't my true self. But I am still scared and I know mama is too. But she is staying strong. Esmeralda thought.
"Yeah, mama. But I'll never get a chance to tell him who I really am." Esmeralda looked out of the window with a sad expression.
"Esme, he's gonna keep an eye on you now. This means he is gonna stare at you, notice your beauty, notice your innocence, your smile, your good deeds and finally day your true nature. And when he does he's gonna fall for you."
Esmeralda wondered if her mother used any such tactics back in high school to secretly stare at her father.
"Whoa, mama." Esmeralda looked at her mother in awe, mouth slightly hanging open, not knowing what to say.
"And Esme don't hesitate to tell me who you like. Liking someone is natural. You have no control over it. Do I scold you for feeling sad or happy? No. Right? Because feeling happy or sad is natural, just like liking a person is."
Estella didn't want her daughter to feel what she had always felt for her father, who never approved of her and Aldric's relationship, kicking her out of the house when he found out she was pregnant at seventeen.
Estella ruffled through Esmeralda's hair.
Estella applied the brakes near the boutique and got off, followed by Esmeralda who ran inside, excited at the beautiful exterior and interior of the boutique.
Estella walked behind her and was greeted by Kate.
"Hey Estella. I know what you two are here for." she winked, pretending to be some mind reader.
